I don't know, I kind of see it the other way. The guy with the Corvette has all of the power/sound/performance, and I don't mind a little of that in a car with inherently none.
Better to have it and have the ability to turn it off than not have it at all IMO. Same thing with all the nannies. I don't use most of them, but I want the choice to have it or not have it.
But I certainly don't agree with making it difficult or impossible to turn these things off, sound, or nannies.
