Maybe this pig of a wagon is an SUV with a lower center of gravity, but that is definitely not the case traditionally.
Traditionally the wagon offers a similar advantage over an SUV as that of a sedan (especially from an enthusiast perspective), while at the same time adding more storage/usability.
Lighter weight (from smaller dimension, smaller wheels and tires and suspension components, less beafed up frame for towing, not always AWD/4WD as most SUV will be)
Lower center of gravity
Option for 2 wheel drive, hopefully rear.
Manual transmission (yes some SUV as well, but they are not remotely as sporty)
Better gas mileage (though not important from the enthusiast standpoint).
