From my perspective, this is a continued move by BMW to address their customer base - less engineering-focused true drivers and more tech wizardry and screen interfaces. Not a negative, just reality setting in. M cars are becoming street cars that won’t blend track and street capability as in the past. The weight gain across the model range seems emblematic of this approach.

The M5 will be a great street machine (unless you have to panic stop, and it will be a handful (two handfuls?)! It will also eat tires at potentially even more of an alarming rate than the F90.

Styling is subjective, but I prefer a cleaner, more classic design. The brilliance of designers is that they know the new design will grow on you.
