I know we all bitch and moan about the "old days" before politics was banned. But honestly, this thread in the "old" BP-OT would have been a page of CEO got murdered, a page of McRib, and 14,276 pages of political fighting.

Because he is a 26 year old guy, not a professional hitman.
Quite honestly, the reaction fron the country tells you all you need to know. I don’t really condone murder but don’t really have an issue with what happened, either. When you screw with people’s ’ lives then you take risks. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Also, out of those 14,276 pages of political fighting, on average, there would be zero people changing their mind / opinion. There was no reasoned consideration of the other's viewpoint, it was just rabid disagreement. And it made me laugh. So much. |

Murder is never ok. Change the system through valid means. I feel bad for the kid, he seemed troubled, and the system is very flawed, probably even evil, probably even crooked, but it doesnt justify.
If the result of the situation is change for the better in insurance industry that is a good result to a very bad and unfortunate situation. |

I don't have any experience with the American healthcare system but know people who traveled stateside and paid out of pocket for procedures, surgeries, etc. in order to avoid the wait times and potentially poor quality healthcare north of the border.
Insurance companies looking out for shareholders and not the policy holders - nothing new. As someone who deals with insurance claims for a living, some of the stuff that happens is pretty disturbing to say the least. Also, resolving a healthcare matter with gun violence? |

I think it depends on who you discuss it with, I have a strict policy with respect to starting those types of conversations and more importantly when to stop.

From what I saw on the news, the gunman was eating a McD's hash brown - so that ends the McRib digressions, right? (please please don't switch to pickeball) I do find it ironic that the 'Robin Hood of modern healthcare' will go down for craving something that hs to be amongst the least healthy of foods.

It's amazing how many people simultaneously decry violence (assassination in this case) but are actually OK with violence, as long as it's their flavor of it.

Take a look at the still image of the shooter as captured at the scene. Pay particular attention to the space between eyebrows. Now take a look at the arrested suspect.
It's incredibly difficult to grow hair, especially in the brow area, in a matter of days.

If found guilty, the suspect may be put to death depending on the type of ruling from what I've read on capital punishment in NYC.
