Who has a cat?

We just got our 2nd cat, my gift to my wife for Mothers Day (in addition to a bracelet she had to have). Anyway, its a Ragdoll Munchkin, and so far shes doing pretty well with our snowshoe. Going to share several photos Ive taken. What cat(s) do you have, how old?

Married into ‘em and can’t stand ‘em. Two down, one to go!

Humor aside, may end up getting another, but outside for mice and such.

21, huh? That’s pretty old. My oldest was 14. Hope my current one lives a long and healthy life. I’ll settle for 21.

Abigail, she's a diluted calico.

She is our third and all were rescues. She had been hit by a car and which resulted in one of her back legs (can't remember which one) being broken. Vet is a family member and saved the leg with surgery and pins.
We adopted her shortly after her surgery after family introduced her to us. We've had her about 7 or 8 years now.

Typical of her just to flop down anywhere and take a snooze

Shadow was our first cat. She was a Birman Siamese mix and the smartest cat I have ever seen. She lived to 18 years old (1994-2012)
We have a warrior princess now. She's a Blue Russian.

The vet is astounded, her numbers all look great for her age, she just has arthritis in her hips (but don't we all). I think she's got feline dementia since sometimes she'll just sit and stare at the floor or a wall for hours, but she's not acting mewing, disoriented or lost. Vet says those are the signs.

This was when the 7 yo marmalade took the 21 yo tortoise shells spot on the couch. Not a happy cat.

We had one years back that looked a lot like Abigail (cute cat, btw). His name was Nemo. Similarly, he was hit by a car too. I took him to the vet once and he got out of his carrier before we went in to the examining room and he got out the front door and ran in to the parking lot. He was very scared and wouldn't come to me. I made a leap and got him by the tail. He turned and let me have it so bad I had to go to the hospital because of infection. My hands went so numb when I was holding on to him that I let go and he ran across the street and got hit by a car. A vet employee went across the street and caught him wearing special protective gloves. Nemo had a broken leg which was cast and his tail was amputated because I had severed the nerves in it. Poor kitty. He lived with us many years after that. Forget how old he was when died. He was very sweet.

Some really cool looking cats!! Ours is really making my wife and kids happy, heck im starting to like the little mess too
Wifes fav animal besides horses are cats, and her Mom passed a bit over a year ago, so this is really lifting her spirits. Our other cat was a rescue - found outside behind a vets office in St Pete, this kitten lived at a home with 15 cats - she shes kind of a rescue to the extent that she needed a good home. Both were free.

We have three. If I didn't exert veto rights from time to time, we'd have a dozen.

Oldest was found in the woods near campus by my oldest daughter while away at college. She tried to keep it in her dorm (against the rules) but that didn't last long (she is now married with a house and a big yard, with two large dogs and three cats of her own).

The younger two were adopted together at a rescue/adoption event.

We got our first cat approximately 35 years ago and have had at least one dog or one cat (and at times both) ever since.

I've always had cats and can't imagine life without 'em. Look at them like any other family member. We have two rescues, a brother and sister Siberian's that are absolute characters and keep us laughing.

We had a young cat for a short time when I was in kindergarten, but my mom had a bad experience with alley cats when she was in elementary school and she was afraid of them, so we always had a dog … until I was in junior high. Then we had some neighbors who moved and left Maxwell who I had always been fond of. I used to lay on my back in the garage and Max would lay on my chest. Then I started sneaking him into my bedroom. Eventually my mom acquiesced and he got full reign of the house and my mother grew to love him. And I’ve had at least one ever since, except the four years I was in the Army. Theo, Toby, Abby, Aslan, Lucy, and Dashy.

My mother became fairly fond of cats in general, but she always loved my cats.

From top to bottom. Aslan and Abby, Aslan and Lucy, Lucy loved my dad and within two minutes of him sitting she was in his lap, Lucy climbed the ladder, Dashy as a kitten, Lucy and Dashy. Lucy loves to groom Dashy, but she has ulterior motives. She always ends up attacking him and forcing him to move so she can take his spot.

Dashy was my first kitten and he just about drove me crazy in his first 18 months. He still makes me crazy a lot, but I love him too much now to care.

I was always m'eh about cats; growing up we always had a dog. After I left home, my parents got into cats but they still did nothing for me. My 14-year-old daughter got a kitten and then, as happens, the cat adopted me -- and daughter moved away so it became my cat.

So over the past 25+ years, I've become a cat person. And no longer have a dog.

The tough part of having a cat is losing them.

Had continuous cat ownership from 1971 to 2019. With the last one's passing we decided we might be too old to adopt another. My wife has been helping with getting abandoned kittens ready to be adopted (with a bit of assistance from me). Through one of the rescues she became aware of an estimated 6-8 year old girl with a sad and storied past. She convinced me to meet her...and next month will be the one year anniversary of our adopting her. She's a sweet scaredy-cat with a purr motor that doesn't quit.
