Rear bumper dent

Hello folks, I am not sure when and how this happened but today I found out a small dent on the edge of my rear bumper. Can this to be repaired? Will bumber need to be taken off? The car has ppf on it. Thanks in advance.

I had damage as well.
$4000 to fix, including removal of PPF and reinstalling.
Bumper will be removed.
Due to the bumper being removed, sensors will have to be recalibrated.

File a claim with your insurance company and make sure you put them on notice that you have PPF on the bumper and that they will be responsible for the cost of removing and replacing it.

The DIY project would be to take the bumper off, use a heat gun from the inside and try to smoothen out the crease. An aftermarket M Sport bumper with paint will likely be between $1000-$1400 depending on your location. Your deductible may make it better to DIY but filing a claim and having a shop do it with BMW parts will total $3500-$4000.

I got hit and run on in my own driveway a couple years ago and went through insurance, it started a whole M Sport retrofit on my E92.

I have done that. I have the cost of removal of the PPF prior to painting priced by the collision center and added the cost of replacing the PPF done by the place that originally installed it.

Don't forget that when they paint most detailers recommend that you wait about 4 weeks before applying the new PPF.

Repaired - kinda.
You can make it look better, but bring the plastic crease back to 100% will be nearly impossible.

If you want a perfect outcome, you will need to replace and repaint the bumper, easily going north of $3K altogether. This may be an opening to explore aftermarket upgrades to the bumper if you won the car? If you leased it, you have to keep it stock!

Why did you waste money PPF-ing rear bumper ?
Either way, you will have to replace that as well.

That is not actually true, but no body-shop will forgo an opportunity to charge you or your insurance company for extra "calibration" work. That's 100% labor with 100% profit margins ;-)

Good luck,

I am bringing the BMW to repair on July 1. I am giving them until July 10 to finish the repair.
I have an appointment to reinstall the PPF on Aug 18th.
So, I gave it enough time.

Sounds to me that your timing for the PPF is ok.
