Wheel Cleaner with CCB
This my first set of CCBs, and my wheels are ceramic coated. What are you guys using as a wheel cleaning spray when there’s low dust and no iron contamination? I assume I want to stay away from any cleaner that is meant for steel brakes since they’ll like contain caustic compounds for iron dust. PH neutral is a must I guess. Any suggestions appreciated.

The reason is because the carbon core of the disc oxidizes when exposed to oxygen (or temps over 600°F), which causes the disc to degrade. If you look closely at the edges and vanes of the disc you'll see a grey metallic coating, and it's this coating that keeps oxygen (air) from getting to the disc. On the face of the disc you'll see the tell-tale cracks, and wear indicator circles. Inside these cracks and circles is this same metallic coating, protecting the disc from oxidization. Using products with various chemicals in them can degrade this protective layer over time and cause the disc to lose integrity. I'm a CCB guy, so if you have any other questions, feel free to DM me. |

I used Mequires hot wheel cleaner for gloss black wheels yesterday. I let it sit for a couple minutes and then rinsed with a pressure washer. When I went to pull the car in the garage it felt like less bite in the brakes. Did I ruin my ccb??

Ph level is 8 so you didn't damage anything with it for sure. Most likely what happened is that the rotors were still wet when you pulled it in (if not on the front side then the back side), and CCB's don't work well when wet.

The car was in the garage all day not driven. I backed it out and washed it in the shade so there was zero heat in the brakes or wheels. I started pulling forward and almost hit my garage wall because it felt like it wouldn't stop.
I understand ccb doesn't bite as quick when wet and cold so I hope that is all it was.
