~30 hrs can be done without restroom breaks if you don't eat/drink anything. though you could do a pit stop in 10 minutes and just drive faster.

so basically it's how fast can you go without getting pulled over.

i knew of some guys who did it in ~35-40 hrs in a van going speed limit, multiple drivers and stopping for gas/restrooms.

Keep in mind the trick to doing this, you have to have air cover, and thus good weather which also means the police are out in force, in bad weather the police can not be bother to write tickets.

They didn't have air cover for this run. They did however recruit a lead car to go 150-200 miles ahead of them on different stretches to warn of police, construction, etc.

They also has CB radio to pose as truckers and get other truckers to move out of the way so they can get through, which on 2 lane interstate is a huge issue.

I liked the thoughtfulness of their approach.

I'm curious about why they felt the need for 3 radar detectors. Perhaps they intended to create enough interference so they performed like a $100 truck stop special?

I am not sure they did, however, even Alex Roy said that the trick to doing that fast was to have air support. That was the one piece of the equation he did not know until we talk to the guys who first did it and used a plane. The air support piece the unknown part for a long time.

Running a car out in front means that car hard to going as fast otherwise these guys would have over taken them. Also they could use a WAZE as a way to know where real time traffic was. Hell if you set if for navigation it will come up and warn you travel time is increasing do to traffic in you path.

Just like all these guys they are leaving some information out. I was kind of surprise they Alex Roy told people about the plane.
