"Must do" things in Vegas?
So my buddies are heading into town on Friday and it's their first time this far west.
Friday and Saturday night we'll be in Phoenix, but on Sunday afternoon we're heading to Vegas and staying till Tuesday. What are the must see things/places/etc? Also, where's a accessible/cheap place to stay? Seeing as we'll only be in the hotel while sleeping from 3am-12pm, we're less concerned with being at the flashiest place and more concerned with keeping price down.

haha... well yeah, that's a given. Hence the lack of concern about our place, because
1. we'll be too drunk to notice how bad it is 2. hopefully we'll each be sleeping somewhere else

Tuscany suits or terribles (yes this is the name) if you will have a car is lots of space for price.
In other case if they have never been,... pay and stay on the strip so u dont have to drive. ballys/ imperial palace/ binions/ harrahs/ flamingo/ are centered and walkable to most. fk |

I guess that we are staying in a Baller place. For sema my buddies and I are staying at the Trendwest Resorts. Since my older brother works high in the company, I have been spoiled when it comes to condos while away from home.

ballys and excalibur aren't bad for the money. or you can get a suite at the venetian that can easily sleep 6 people. they have 2 queen beds and a queen pull out sofa. only thing is no lock on the bathroom door. staying on the strip is your best bet if its your first time. it's easier to get around. hop in a cab and like $10 will get you across the strip.
you should definately consider hitting vegas on a friday and saturday night. that's when everyone is there. it's nearing october so i dont know how many people head out there to party on weekdays. i think the last rehab was beginning of this month. as far as clubs, if you're going with a group of guys. your best bet is to get bottle service. gotta pay to play. otherwise, the bouncers will most likely kick you out of line. or you can try to grab some random girls in line and go in with them. keep the ratio 1:1 at least. but then again, you're going on a weekday so i dont know what the hell is going on those nights. alot of vegas depends on your budget. gambling gets expensive. clubbing gets expensive. save money and pack your room with water, alcohol and snacks. it's alot better than spending $3-$4 for a small bottle downstairs. i brought a cooler with me last time and will probably do it again. they have alot of good shows you can watch. pretty expensive. you can catch the 730 show. finish around 11 and head out to the bars after that.

try the front desk tip. slip a $20 under your credit card and ID when you check in and ask if they have any "complimentary upgrades". be nice. chat up a storm with em.
worked for me at ballys. got upgraded to a huge suite.

Tropicanna is cheap but its at the end of the strip. Imperial Palace is more centrally located. I've never checked but Barbary Coast HAS to be cheap too and it's centrally located. As for what to do what are you into?
Strip Clubs - Deja Vu's ROCKS!!! All-nude, 2 main stages you'll even see some girl on girl action. Also private chair dances are on a bed in another room and lets just say some of the women can... explore? But its been a few years since I've been there so... Great clubs too - Rum Jungle at Monte Carlo, Studio 56 at MGM, club in Barbary Coast (forgot the name but its downstairs take the elevator in the middle of the casino) Gambling is always a blast too! Have a GREAT time! Wish I was going! |

QUOTE] Barbary coast is gone. its called binions or something like that now! Excaliber is a good idea for the price also. If you are going weekday a decent place will cost less than 90 a night. FK |

First time in Vegas, you should really try to stay on the Strip. Weekdays you can find some really good rates unless a major convention happens to hit town also.
And don't try to walk to and from the various strip casinos, it looks close, but once you start walking you'll be pissed. At least, it's not too hot now. Most importantly have fun and be prepared that Vegas is very expensive these days.

Thanks for all the ideas guys. Gives me plenty to check out online/call about tomorrow during work.
What's "IT"? Yeah, if that's still going on, Hardrock pool is definitely on the agenda. Quote:
We'll do a bit of gambling. Otherwise the plan is to hang by the pool during the day, then head to the strip clubs and bar at night. None of us are really huge about the whole club scene...personally, I have a problem with the idea of paying a cover charge, since I never did while living in NYC, and those places are tough to beat. Plus it makes it tough, since the other guys are on a tighter budget. Yeah, I'm actually taking them there on Friday afternoon when they land in Phoenix.
