McLaren, Alonso announce split

http://sports.si.cnn.com/default.asp...BGN4110600.htm

The dominos will start falling for F1 driver slots. It will be interesting how this ends when the music stops.

But I wonder who will pay for Alonso....definately not Ferrari, nor BMW Sauber....both teams have contracted drivers who did well....

Very likely Spainard wil lgo back to Benetton Renault??? Maybe???

The front runner on that second seat is now Nico Rosberg...

Renault or maybe Toyota - willing to shell out big bucks for talent

Either way, a step down for Alonso and his driving talents

I thought he was a sniveling B**ch during this season, but you can't arguew with his driving abilities.

Wonder if he'll try to do a 1 year deal with some team(a la Toyota) and then try for Ferrari next year. An Alonso/Kimi Team would be completely dominant.

Heiki or Niko to Mclaren.
Alonso to Renault or Toyota...or even Honda if Barrichello gets the boot.

There's so many different rumors going around.

I've heard:
- FA turned down the Toyota offer (which was an insane amount of money).
- there was a clause in his Mercedes contract stating he can't drive for a factory team for '08 (which would leave Redbull or Williams)
- Williams doesn't want to let Nico go.

I'm guessing Renault's probably the most realistic option.

If he did go to someone for a year in hopes of jumping to Ferrari in 2009, he'd be replacing Kimi, since Massa's contract runs till 2010.

Alonso will go back to Renault, that's his best chance. Massa might not want to stay with Ferrari after this season, so that's also something to look for! he might go to McClaren where they seem more open to their drivers competing. One thing is for sure, Alonso is not going to Ferrari!

I am glad he is out of the Mclaren. I can't stand FA. I don't really care if anyone picks him up. Maybe he should follow JPM and head to Nascar? LOL
