Find out the location of your job exactly, then find a place to live. The traffic is horrendous, probably the only city that in some places that has two lanes each way on I-5 (aka the 5). I would also take into consideration the hours that you will work. Try not to work on Fridays. Stay on the same side of your work so you don't have to go across bridges.
Bonus: no sales taxes, just state income taxes. I lived there for years. |

Great place to live in is Beaverton. Depending on where you live in Beaverton a drive downtown would take about 15 to 20 minutes and add an additional 30 minutes if there is traffic.
Rent has gone up a lot within the last couple of years, if you are planning to live here for awhile I would suggest buying now if you are considering long term. The Portland metro area is a great place to live, and you will find the culture here to be very pleasant. I hope you enjoy it! |

Visiting is one thing
Living there is another This is one of the moronic states flirting with the idea of trying to tax drivers per mile driven using GPS.......moronic effort to control/track people and increase cost of vehicles.....especially the poor who can least afford this stupidity.....want to impose an additional tax then stick to tolls They have stupid progressive zoning/planning laws that prohibit people from building homes on anything bigger than a postage stamp and force a maximum number of people into a minimum space We could go on and on about the failures/idiocy of Oregon but there's a reason why its bottom of the barrel in personal freedom ranking of states http://www.freedominthe50states.org/ |

Yea....only way you would consider a Tx>>>>Oregon move would be if you were pro progressive/tyranny
You folks in Tx are on the recieving end of a large number of blow ins from California and elsewhere that are trying to cram tyranny down the throats of people and are finding businesses and people running away from it as fast as they can |
