Lower cars in NYC,is it stupid??
today I went to the tire shop where I installed my 19".
I asked the guy if I can install my H&R springs and spacer. he said no because he doesn't want to get involved. he said he afriad to create some problems after replaceing the new springs. He also said"you got a Fancy BMW,not a NISSAN. This is brooklyn, not L.A." you may get some problems after you replace your springs. I think he means the road condition is not so good in NYC. he makes me feel like it is really not a good idea to drop my car a little bit. what should I do?? sell my springs?? but i still want to install my springs. |

I agree with him. The roads are absolutely horrible in New York (all the burroughs - Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx...well, I don't know about Staten but who cares about Staten?).
You will suffer miserably.

I know the roads are horrible in New York.
but my home city(Taipei) is even worse. I also lowered my car for five years when I was in my home city. maybe I'll try to ask other tire shop if they can install my springs because I don't want to sell my springs so far. Hi Jason, do you have any suggestions for tire shop?? |

Not sure if you want to trek to Queens, but V&S Motor Service did a good job on my Audi a few months back. It wasn't suspension related, but I know a few Audi people that have gone there for suspension work. The shop is the official body shop for Bayside BMW. They are on Northern Blvd right off the Clearview Expressway

Hey, Jason - how is your Boxter S with 18" wheels and aftermarket suspension treating you in NYC? I understand that you'd like to watch the roads and that must be a hell of a task since in Manhattan, you'd be lucky to see the asphalt (instead of cars/traffic) ahead of you. There are even unavoidable potholes wide enough to prevent any escape...
Now, it would be a totally different story if you're living in the outskirts of suburban NY.
