This is the same guy who puts twister-like dots on photographs and calls it art.
Quite underwhelming considering BMW's back catalogue. The preceding BMW Art Cars are much more stunning and emotional and display much more talent. But I'm no artist/art connoisseur; I'm just a BMW enthusiast, so what do I know. Jeff Koons Andy Warhol Alexander Calder

I'm not feeling this car at all. Looks riced out to me. Additionally the car on the door doesn't match the car itself. The end plate on the wing is not the same color. You would think an artist of some fame could get the details correct.

I don't blame the artist for the poor response to the car, I blame bmw. You can't hate on the artist for his work if that is simply his style. BMW should take a step back and whisper amongst themselves...
"This guy just paints dots on black and white photos. Does this really line up with our racing heritage?" This is kinda similar to the jenny holder V12 LMR. Very minimalist and pales in comparison to calder, lichenstein, warhol, nelson and done cars where not a single inch of the body panels were left unpainted. regardless, I will be waiting for btw to release the 1:18 to add to my collection. Fortunately, I think BMW commissioned 2 upcoming art cars so hopefully the next one will make up for it.

WOW! That has to be the saddest excuse for an art car! I always look forward to these bmw art creations. This is the first time I have been disappointed. I can definitely do better than that, I'm pretty sure any one of us can do better than that....

I LOVE the art cars, but not this one. Not a good match up with BMW, even if you can respect that minimalist art style. It even makes the Warhol one look good (that was my previous 'phoned it in' entry). The comparisons to the J. Holder are obvious, but not really fair - hers had some thought provoking content, especially on a million dollar car (but I'm biased, as it is one of my favorites). The infinite loop miniatures on the door pic would have taken it so much further into something artistic - this is more like a mixed media exercise.

Bet this is the last time they just hire someone.
Next time they will invite submissions. Artists should beg to do an art car and this was just crap. Should have given it to one of the sharpie artists to draw on ...would have been much better.

BMW M6 GTLM Art Car - Seriously?
I can see the artistic viewpoint - minimalist.. Yet I can't help but wonder if BMW execs felt a bit ripped off?
If I would have commissioned that artist I might be thinking..

The artist needs to lose the beard and get past the "Twister" dots on such a beautiful car. The art is to enhance this beauty, not detract from it.

The one who should be flogged isn't the artist. Its who chose him to do the csr. This is a predictable piece based on his art. Very little I see to push art forward in his work. Art is supposed to inspire, provoke thought, etc. His stuff looks like a hack job by a no taent college sophomore.
