Buying something new

Hi,

I'm in the market for a new car. I will still be keeping my E90 328i. I'm considering A4 vs C Class. I test drove and like them both. Just wanna know your opinions.

I also considered the Alfa Guilia, but there's still no MSRP for that model and I'm concerned about reliability and their aging (according to reviews) infotainment system.

Cheers!

I'm a fan of the new A4. I don't Mercedes as a whole, so it'd rule the C out for me, anyway.

Is there a reason you need two 4 door cars? I personally would look at a 2 door coupe as I've had two 4 door cars and found them redundant. But perhaps you have a good reason.

Why not get at least one fun car? Nothing wrong with a 328i, but an A4 or non AMG C Class is just 95% of the same.

Even my AMG C63 and regular Audi A4 felt similar in many ways. Yes the AMG has gobs more power and driving dynamics were different, but the overall experience can not compare to a 2 door mid-engine fun car. Even my Boxster which I had long ago, with 201hp, was a more eventful drive. Just food for thought without knowing more about your situation.

That Alfa is gorgeous, and most importantly it's unique. Get some different from the masses.

MSRP for the Giulia is $38,990 for the top premium model, with the Quadrifoglio performance model listing at $72,050. Great looking care, but not worth it unless you can afford the Quadrifoglio as all other models come with a 4cyl. engine

The C is all luxury unless you get into the AMG options. Mercedes are built very well and feel extremely solid, although I don't believe they offer any sort of maintenance plan included with their new cars (unlike BMW), so they still haven't lost the art of ripping off the consumer.

The Audi alternative is a nice medium between a BMW and a Merc. Not full-on sport, nor terribly luxurious. They have some nice tech options if you check the right boxes on the order form, but unless you get one with an "S" behind the model number, it's going to be a fairly bland experience.

At a $40K price point, you're better off looking for a low-mileage pre-owned higher-end model if you can get around the idea of owning a used car. I can get a lot more car for $40K than anything a dealer could sell me as 'new'. You can get a 2012/2013 E63 or C63 AMG, 2013/2014 M5, or 2013/2014 S6 (among many others) all in the $40-50K price range. Too much potential out there to limit yourself to only new cars IMO

I'd take the C-class over the Audi, but I'd probably take a BMW over both of them, although BMW is making it easy to consider other makes.

Getting married and my fiancee loves the 328i. So she'll probably be the one to use it. I really don't mind used cars but I'm not too keen on purchasing high performance cars as my next Daily Driver. I've just added the new G30 to my shortlist. Will have to take it for a spin. It's now between the C Class, G30 5 series and A4. I'm not a fan of the current F30 and the current E-Class.

The Giulia configurator is up. A fairly loaded Ti model goes for roughly $45K and has 280 hp.

My issue w/ the Giulia is that aside from its handsome looks and decent driving dynamics, it's a fairly mediocre car. The interior looks circa 2011, it'll have your typical Italian lack of attention to detail inside, a poor infotainment system, horrible reliability, and poor residuals.

One sit inside the XE and you'll cross it off your bucket list. What a putrid interior.

Why not something like a 4-series Gran Coupe? It's a gorgeous car and very unique. Everybody and their mother has a C-class, A4, 5-series, etc.

The V90 looks great, but then I prefer any wagon over any sedan.

Pick whichever vehicle offers a proper transmission, which is a manual one with three pedals on the floor.

Get something with two seats and a manual. Life's too short to own two boring sedans. What to look at will depend highly on your budget and maybe even modification budget in the future. No need to buy new.

S2000, Z4M coupe, Cayman R, gt4, Lotus, Ariel Atom, 997 gt3, miata, gen 5 viper, vette grand sport, camero zl1...

What's your price point? Two doors or four doors?

I have m6 F30, so I have some BMW bias.
