Tonight it was frozen chicken heated in the oven with canned peas and corn, with leftover fried potatoes with cheese and green pepper. It was alright, but no crowning culinary achievement.

I was wondering how you like the X5? My wife is interested in getting one, but they can be quite expensive as you know. We are looking at both new and certified pre-owned.

TYW, we bought our 2002 X5 in November '04, CPO. It had 32,000 kms on it, and now has 72,000. It has had only two glitches..once an oil filter seal cracked after I elected for an oil change (200kms from home, kids asleep in back, on way to cottage, kayak on roof...). And in Feb. we had an Engine Breather Valve rupture which meant the X5 was in and out of the 'ship for three weeks...that includes the seat heater that burned a hole in the seat....

The wonderful thing is that we have a good dealership, everything was fixed on CPO warranty, and it runs like butter now.

I have recently driven a Ram 1500 Sport and a Tacoma, and neither have the pillow-like ride of the X5. The 10 speaker stereo is wonderful, and the sunroof is a blast. The X5 tows our horse trailer to shows and back in style and comfort (most SUVs this size can't tow 6000 lbs max). Since I put those new 18" wheels on it (17" was stock), it corners better and steers easier.

I would watch out, because the new Gen X5s will look very different and will have iDrive!!!! Let me know if you would like more details, I really don't think there is a better SUV out there.

Yes, I did see some early photo's of the 2007 X5. It looks good, but we are trying to keep costs down which is why we are leaning towards a CPO.

my father has a x5 3.0 diesel sport, in a light goldy colour, lemon seats and light wood trim, it thinks its the best suv he has ever driven, but there is a new MB ml320d out now 7 speed, and a lot of people have been saying that this new suv is the daddy

Lovely pics, stew - Canada is a beautiful place for the short time I was up there. They don't litter as much as my filthy American counterparts.

You haven't been to New York long enough. Orange peels? That's actually good thinking by those people - it's biodegradable and helps the soil regain nitrogen-fixing bacteria. I see people eating burgers off the side of the street and they just drop the wrapper off to the side.

Americans learn to litter early: a week ago (in NY) little kids took handful of ketchup packets from McDonalds, opened each one to make a ketchup mound, littered each packet, and then continued to sprinkle pepper from a handful of packets...while littering each pepper packet as well.

And if you have ever driven through the Bronx, Queens, or Brooklyn...absolutely horrific. The curbs and shoulders of all streets and freeways are litterally landfills.

The only litter we have at our humble country palace is doggy poo poo...lots of it, and a big mound of horsey poo poo that I make over the winter that gets plowed flat come summer.

You Americans are fine people, there are just a few bad apples (and oranges)....God Bless America!!!!!

Yeah, this time of year is HORRIBLE for garbage. All the cigarette butts, and dog shit and misc garbage that has been accumulating in the snow for the last 5 months is left for the world to see as the snow disapears.

I'm looking forward to getting my run flats back on though...

Hahah my friends and I once saw a white expedition with 22's + giant chrome spinners with a mexican plate toss out a huge box of cheez-it right on the freeway in broad daylight with cars all around! Then like 3 or 4 more items followed one by one. We're like, ok littering is one thing, that was just ridiculous. It was a GIANT cheeze-it box!

When I was a kid.....in the 60s.....

there were "Give a hoot, don't pollute" ads, and don't litter ads on TV with an American Indian with a tear running down his face as his land filled up with litter from passing motorists......obviously that has fallen off the agenda...

(There was also Smoky the Bear "Only YOU can prevent forest fires", but that's OT OT!!)
