R&T:Watch a Porsche 911 GT3 Driver Try (And Fail) to Catch Sabine Schmitz at the Ring
“Even with a full load of passengers, Schmitz's E39 M5 "Ring Taxi" still keeps this Porsche at bay in this vintage footage.”

What a car!!! Note the rate of turn in. When Sabine turns the car there is no easing it in. It gets turned and the weight gets transferred now!!!
Man I would love that ride.

Cool video, but the guy certainly did not fail to keep up with her.

R&T chose a stupid title for that article. That's absolutely not what's going on in the video. The GT3 driver just wants to follow Schmitz in her BMW. Any time Schmitz gets some distance between her and the Porsche (traffic), the driver closes the gap in seconds. That guy in his Porsche is so much faster than Sabine in her BMW.
I wonder how old that video is? E39 Ring Taxi.

I am fortunate to own an e39 and I'm amazed everyday how incredible this car is. I will honest say I wouldn't trade it for a new one. Regardless, of how much faster they are. You can't replicate the engine and the pure analog driving of the e39.

Sabine is my kind of gal. She grew up on the 'Ring. Who sez women can't drive?

Sabine Schmitz was running in the WTCC (touring car championship) on the Nurnburing event. Although she was not in the leading group, she was competitive. |
