Have BMW seats gotten more comfortable over the past couple decades?

Taking an e39 M5 for example, and continuing up the line to the e60, f10, & f90, has seat quality/comfort gotten better?

e39 M5 had two seat options-- sport and comfort. You have sport pictured. If comfort was your priority, the comfort seat was the one to get

Trying to find a good picture of the comfort seats-- this is the best I found so far (not great):

Comfort seats are not "more comfortable" they are what Recaro (?) called orthopedic seats. They have lower bolsters making it easier to get in and out of the car but do not hold you has firmly in place. Personally, I would not buy "comfort" seats.

Some info about Recaros. Perhaps they are getting better?

https://www.recaro-automotive.com/us...c-comfort.html

All that said the seats in my 2018 X4M40i, 2017 M2 and 2008 X5 where the same seats. So I don't think they have improved that much in the last 10 years. That said the seats in my 2020 M2C, which are from the F80 and have been around for a while are very comfy.

Are newer seats more comfy?? i mean... do seats get worse as technology progresses?? lol

but give me a good carbon bucket seat any day. love the carbon buckets in my 458 compared to the electric/heated sofa comfort seats.

I helped a buddy part out a CTS-V recently and man those seats were HEAVY. Like 80 pounds a piece.

I don't think seat "technology" has really changed.

The least comfortable factory seats I've ever owned are the ones in my 2017 BMW. That said, they weight half as much as the seats in my M5. The most comfortable seats I have on track or back road are the bucket seats in my M3, but they're the least comfortable seats I have on a 5+ hour drive.

Seats are and exercise in compromise and how wide a size group of people they're attempting to address.

From my own experience the E9x M3 seats were more comfortable than the F8x seats imo.
