If they make a Mazdaspeed version it'd be something I'd consider. I owned an '03 mazda 6 with a manual that I modded to death. Loved that car. Then I got into a 2010 Mazda 3 hatch with the 6 speed....loved that car too. If they'd have continued with the mazdaspeed variants I'd have bought a speed 6. A few years back, before my 1st Genesis sedan purchase I drove and considered a Mazda6 again. But the gutless nature of that powertrain made me refrain. They're concept cars are ALWAYS gorgeous!!

I don't think they have any Mazdaspeed models planned sadly....

I used to have a Mazdaspeed Protégé back in the day. Loved that car.

.....and THAT'S why I hopped off the Mazda train! I still love the brand but they're extremely short on true performance these days. When I saw that they added the turbo to the Mazda 6 line up a few years ago I was hoping the speed's would come back.

2006/2007 Mazdaspeed 6 is a thing AWD turbo same motor as Mazdaspeed 3 only 8000 imported to the US. I own two one stock turbo making 300whp one making 400whp they're a hoot go get one.

I really wish they'd stay in the performance segment and make a modern one too .

I was one of the original contributing members of the 6crew.com forum. Helped organize our inaugural meet close to my house in the Brown county Indiana area. Beautiful roads that are mostly clear. I known ALL ABOUT the speed6 and wanted one badly. Drove quite a few modded members cars and they were insane fun. If I wasn't a single dad of a young daughter back then I'd have traded in the 6i and grabbed a speed6 for sure. That's just a really good platform. A friend of mine from that 6crew named Justin had and still has a twin turbo v6 Mazda6 that is NASTY named the punisher. He's actually one of the owners of twizted tuning iirc.....he's about that N54 life too.

I share your hopes. I wish they can blend both sport/luxury just like the Germans. The new rear wheel platform with 6 inline does seem to me that Mazda is taking the German formula, let’s see how well they execute.
