PPF and ceramic coating
I was wondering if anyone has done PPF on the front, full hood and mirrors package part on their car and then have the rest of the car ceramic coated and if you would recommend/pleased with the outcome?! Thanks

Oh I would definitely recommend it. I also recommend coating the ppf. But yes, pleased with the results. I’m not sure who wouldn’t be pleased because it’s definitely adding protective benefits I think it’s just a matter of the owner’s expectations.

Personal opinion and it will vary, but I wouldn't PPF and coat a lease. If you intend to keep the vehicle for an extended period of time (ie-long term ownership) and you prefer the paint as pristine as possible, I would do the full front, and any rockers/mirrors/sides that are exposed to kicked up rocks etc., and then ceramic coat the whole car.
If you just want it to look glossy and don't intend on keeping it longer than 5+ years I would personally stick with ceramic only even with owning the car. I don't feel you really see the full benefits of ceramic on top of ppf, but I also wouldn't coat only the non-ppf panels if you're putting the ppf on the front, ceramic coat the whole car. |

Ppf as much as you feel is needed (depending on your ownership goals - I.e. Leasing vs owning vs not caring regardless of type of ownership). Personally I always do the entire front end (full hood, full fenders, bumper, lights, and mirror caps) and ceramic coat everything.

I have PPF the whole hood, fenders and side sills. Anything where a rock chip can hit your pain head on. Even the roof from front to the half of the sun roof. I like washing and waxing my car. So I didnt opt to the whole car set up. My Porsche has the Front and Back.

I PPF'd the front bumper and "high touch" areas such as the window trim, door handle area, and rear bumper shelf area. Then ceramic coated the whole car.
I would never, ever do that for a lease though.

I am having Xpel film put on front bumper and headlights soon. They had to back out because of COVID so it will be done in the next few weeks.
Will let you know. Have never had it done before. Supposed to be self healing. We shall see.

I’ve been using Xpel for over 12 years, great stuff but make sure you get a good installer. I’m lucky enough to live right next to their headquarters so I just take my cars there. As a bonus, they always have great exotics to see when I visit.

I have had it on the headlights of some of my exotics but never did any paint. Does it hold up with normal wear?

We have XPEL on our X5 which we own and I would highly recommend it. As someone else said, I would not apply it to a leased vehicle. As for ceramic coating, no reason not to coat PPF, in fact I would encourage it because PPF should be protected from UV to prevent yellowing (it would take years but you still don't want it to happen).

Makes it 100 times easier to remove bug and tar residue on the front bumper. It also helps prevent bird droppings, sap, bug guts, etc. from etching into your clearcoat.

I never have to scrub anything. Usually most of the stuff comes off with even a garden hose, if not I just do a quick waterless wash spray on the affected area and it comes right off.

I have XPEL on the front bumper and headlight area as well as the mirror caps. The entire car, including glass is ceramic coated. I got nailed the other day by some geese and didn’t see it on the rear quarter and deck until a few hours later. Took my garden hose to just the back of the car, with no nozzle, and it just rinsed off with no soap or high pressure. A quick wipe down with detailer and a micro cloth and good as new again,

Taking my G20 in for a full-front XPel, tints and full ceramic in a week. Already have a small rock chip on the hood so it can't come soon enough! Debating if I want to add the rockers and A Pillars though. If I do the pillars there would be a seam showing unless I did the full rear quarter panel...

I have xpel on the entire car as I got a good price from the installer, however I really recommend you the front bumper, full hood and fenders, at least for me it gives me peace of mind
