Buying watches at Costco

Anyone here purchased a high end luxury brand watch at Costco? I noticed that because Costco isn't an authorized dealer for all the high end watches, there is no warranty at all. However, Costco has a refund policy. How good is the refund policy and is it even worth it buying a nice watch at Costco?

I would not have a problem. Costco's return policy is 'iron clad' and have never heard of anyone having problems returning anything. I've considered a Omega Seamaster there at one point.

Can't speak for the other 'wholesale warehouses' out there but Costco is always on the up and up. And if they found out otherwise they will mail you a notice to return/exchange it. Membership has it rewards.

I'm considering buying a Tag Heuer watch over there but the sales staff scare me because you really think those people dressed in those Wal-Mart like uniforms know how to make watch adjustments?

I'm considering getting the Tag Heuer Aquaracer or the Link.

+1 on their return policy. You can return a half eaten turkey the day after Thanksgiving and they will gladly take it back.

The only main issue is that the selection is quite small. My mom got an Omega from Costco several years ago. Still working and content with it.

Worst case scenario, buy it at Costco and take it to an authorized dealer for a tune-up. I bet you will still save tonnes in the end.

Just buy it. You'll be sorry if you didn't.

I heard Costco shortened their return policy. 90 days for electronics. 2 years for the regular stuff.

True but it's really to go after the people that abuse the electronics policy. Believe it or not there are guys returning TVs after a year because a newer/larger version is out.

I don't know for sure but would expect it. You can ask to see one to check it out.

The Tags have the serial number on the back of the case. You can easily check for it on a watch you are considering buying.

Tags come with a 2 yr warranty, but if the ones sold at Costco don't come with a warranty, I wouldn't worry about it if the watch you're buying has a quartz movement (the less expensive Tags are all quartz). There's not a lot that can go wrong with a watch with a quartz movement in the first few years.

Not all electronics. For an example, I bought a roomba and fan there because I could return it at a later time if needed.

Before I bought my TAG I looked at the ones at Costco and then I spoke to one of the authorized TAG dealers in town. According to the Dealer TAG will not honour the waaranty if the Warranty book is not stamped by an authorized dealer. Since Costco is not an authorized dealer if there is any waaranty issues you have to take them up with Costco.

As many people have said here Costco has good return policy and if the manufaturer is refusing to honour the warranty I am sure they will take care of the customer.

I didn't buy the TAG from Costco because they didn't have the model I was looking for but if they have what you are looking for go for it.

I think the dealer is full of BS but YMMV. My Tag was bought in HK and I never had to produce the warranty book for any reason (I don't even know where it is anymore). As long as you have a serial number on the back you should be fine IMO. Tag can look up the serial number to confirm that it is legit. The rest I think is a a scare tatic from the dealer because they know they jack the prices up.

Does Costco still carry Breitling watches?

I've been looking for a steelfish for a while now, but my Costco back home in NY hasn't carried Breitling for a year or two now, but my local one down here in NC has two (two navitimers), but they have had the same ones for as long as I have gone there so I just figured that they had them left over. I'll go check their website.

I bought my Breitling at Costco. The second hand started counting time a little fast for unknown reasons. Costco gladly gave me the option of returning the watch or letting them fix it through their own warranty program. I gave them the watch to fix and I got it back in three weeks. It's been working great ever since (one year ago). I even got a great price on the watch $2450 opposed to the $3200 retail price. A lifelong warranty that you can trust and a big discount equals peace of mind! In fact, I even talked other coworkers into purchasing through Costco. Three coworkers bought Breitlings and one bought an Omega and none have had any problems with their watches.

They do still carry Breitling watches (at least here in the bay area and in Tampa, FL). Locally they had a Navitimer and Chrono Avenger. I was looking for an Omega Seamaster recently and went to my local Costco. They ended up looking on their computer for other stores with the watch to have sent locally (unfortunately, the quartz version was only available) so this is always an option for you as well.
