While I wouldn't do it, I do think it is less cheesy than the illuminated kidney grill (or the MB illuminated star that started this nonsense).

No shot - it's way cheesier than the star IMO

Tacky as hell, every time I see it I cringe, especially on the ones who get the tone of color wrong.

Maybe one of the "appreciate" members on Post #2 should call up BMW CCA and let them know you think it's "corny" for anything other than an ///M Badge from BMW to use the three //M colors......

Since you know better, please make sure you stop me when you see me driving around, and remind me that I'm a "fake" enthusiast.

{Come on, say it, "X5///M's are "fake" ///M's"

Yeah but some people will claim those colors are only for the M division.

Claiming, and being correct, are two different things. They would be incorrect.

The last thing any ///M car needs is another damned stripe/badge/emblem.

Hard no.

I added the stripes this week and really like the way they look on my Z4's black grill.

Years ago I used to put pin striping on my cars.

Different strokes for different folks!!!

@ Westside Guy, you should set a new trend..."double-wide"..so, that the Grill-Slat haters can hate you 2x....

Should you go "triple-wide"?....

I think you're right. The Motorsport stripes preceded the first M3 by over 15 years making the stripes, and use thereof, more race-associated and less M-car associated. However, I think BMW drivers and fans today still identify with BMW's racing heritage and history. Without the history, current BMW performance cars are simply nice cars.
Not really … m3 was not the first … m1, 2002 turbo were before

One vote for triple-wide.

I don't think these belong on M cars because it would be trying too hard. There's already too many M badges on them.

Otherwise, go for it.

Remember in the 80's when people did put some gti or turbo stickers that they found in a random auto center on any cars ? This is just the same … Wish.com tuning.

(I'm a stock guy on the level of badges and stickers)

I didn't appreciate post #2, but yes, still corny; regardless of of your membership to anything. Your membership to BMW CCA means nothing other than you paid to be in a car club. Congrats I guess. Membership to BMW CCA must mean that you enjoy your car WAY more than everyone else does huh? I suppose because they didn't pay to be in CCA that they aren't nearly the level of enthusiast you are.

I would remove them from a car if I saw them and promptly throw them in the trash.

Yeah i probably wouldn’t because there are cameras everywhere but the thought has crossed my mind many times.

Yeah, I guess the way to look at that is what would you do if you found someone defacing your car? No cameras needed as I could tell you what I would do if you had your hands on my car when I approached.

never was a fan. the last thing an M car needs is more badges to let people know its an M car. bmw cca badge looks corny too.

but in general i'm not a fan of vinyls / stripes / etc on cars. When i was searching for a gt3 i didn't even look at any of the cars that had that dumb 'gt3' or 'porsche' lettering down the side or on the wing.

I technically would be improving. The slats would come right out with no damage to the vehicle.
