Yea, I made that mistake once. Figured I would accelerate out of a stop that had a slight curve and ended up fishtailing a bit. It was bad enough to scare me but not bad enough I wasn't able to recover. After that, I realized I was much better off letting the car decide.

Just because you can afford a quick/fast car doesn't mean you can drive one.

People that floor it with the wheels turned to leave a parking lot are the biggest idiots imho. At least point the car straight first and don't stay in it if it's getting away from you. Better yet don't do burnouts.
It happened to me once, but I was 17 or 18 in my 300ZX which was my first RWD car. I wasn't doing a burnout, I simply stayed in it mid turn and lost it hitting some leaves, thankfully after doing a couple of 360s I miraculously did not touch a thing, just turned around and drove home to change my underwear.

dsc off is not the problem, lack of ability to properly control the car is. they should make it mandatory to take control clinic and pass before unlocking DSC off option lol

dsc off in a toyota 86 or miata isn't really an issue. dsc off in a 500hp + car with rwd is different

LFA NOOOOoooo...I did 1:50 once in my lifetime, only once...in my old Mk4 R32. Luckily it was just a curbed wheel. Some of these were at no fault of the driver which sucks like the Porsche having the fence fall on it. Also, lots of non-supercars in this supercar vid.

My ‘77 Cutlass didn’t have DSC. People have lost the ability to drive. Not good or bad, it just is.

For the first few minutes I was thinking "Where are all the Mustangs"...

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

I laughed at that one. Now...
Oh no, not the C2 Corvette!

Too funny, I'm the guy laughing on the sidelines. I'm sure we've all been there where the adrenaline is pumping and we think we're in control.
It's shame to see all that nice machinery damaged but I have to admit I have no sympathy for the drivers, maybe now they will get themselves to a closed course for some real training.

Also those older cars were designed without sharper handling and easier to slide control as opposed to a modern performance car seemingly glued to the road that can be a death trap in a snap moment with the safety controls switched off.

I leave it on in my Hellcat. I have had it off for burnouts & coming out of a burnout with it off this car wants to kill you. No need to tempt fate on the street with it off

I’ve been a car enthusiast since before I was old enough to drive.
Started racing RC cars at age 6, then bicycles, then dirt bikes (both MX and arenacross), carts at the same time, then autocross, and drag. My first F10 M5 got away from me 3wks after purchase - and ended up being a total loss. Other than my ego, thank God nobody was hurt. We all make mistakes! |
