Pre-Wash / Foam vs Road Film - Critical!

Just to cut to the chase:

(1.) pH neutral soaps are crap.
(2.) An alkaline pre-wash to remove road film is critical
(3.) If you're worried about removing your LSP, don't be as the alternative is worse and drying aide w/ topper is easy

Great video walks though the details testing BH products, but applies to any:

My favorite road film remover is Superior Products Road Warrior available at O'Reillys since it's easy & cheap to buy but Koch Chemie or others make great stuff too and you could also just use an APC like Purple Power.

The key you want something highly alkaline and probably with degreasing abilities that you have to pressure rinse off.

I like these threads, great video and explanation.

This was an interesting watch as well.

I like the test he ran, but would have preferred he included a few other products like Road Warrior, Kock Chemie, Purple Power & ONR. I think that would have been more useful of a comparison.

Use a pump sprayer to apply citrus APC to your car, let it dwell for a few minutes then snow foam over the top of it.

Or even better, mix some citrus APC in with your snow foam.

Yeah, agreed - it was good to show the difference between water, pH neutral soap, and RF remover though ... it's kind of the most important part of the wash if you drive through rain or snow.

This guy does more product testing using RW:

In my experience Dark Fury (aka Rage) is pretty much the best road film remover out there but it's finicky to use because it's damn strong and it can stain concrete if you don't rinse it fairly quickly (and maybe your clear coat if you're not careful and let it dry). The other thing with rage is, it'll clean your driveway! So now you have a clean spot

RW isn't as powerful as Dark Fury, but I'd say at 4:1 it does a 90-95% job without any of the hassle of Dark Fury.

This was an interesting video as well… I would like to have seen that test on the other vehicle that you could really see the road film containment.
