m340i cracked headlight repair diy

Hi,

Dealer is charging 4300 for a cracked headlight replacement (laser).
seems like someone hit me in the parking lot and unfortunately the dashcam app didn't record anything.
I can also buy a used one from ebay for upper 1k but does anyone have experience replacing just the lens cover?
would have to throw away the broken one anyways so thinking about giving it a try but if its close to impossible want to save some time and energy.
or does anyone know who can do it? can probably ship it to have it fixed.
$4300 for a cracked plastic seems quite absurd.

Thanks

That may be covered under comprehensive insurance.

It's ridiculously expensive. However, welcome to modern high tech cars. Pretty much every manufacturer is affected.

I suggest asking your insurance if a comprehensive claim can be opened to address this.

Usually a comprehensive claim has minimal effect on your premium, since it was not caused by your action or error. However, you might want to ask the company first to be sure.
