Does Argentinian Spanish sound like any Spanish you've heard before - say, for example, Mexican, or maybe Colombian or Venezuelan? I learned the language in Venezuela and find Argentina's Spanish to sound almost like a different language.

It is a bit different. It’s not like what one would hear in Mexico, for example. I can’t quite put my finger on it or really know why or what the difference is. My brother who speaks better Spanish than me seems to understand and be able to communicate with the locals well.

To answer my own prior question about buses from Colonia to Montevideo and other destinations: yes, these are nice coaches with toilets onboard, not a local bus. It’s about $13-15 USD from Colonia to Montevideo. Trip takes about 4 hours one way.
