Interesting Article:Laser Headlamps Are Disappearing. Here’s Why

Most on this forum already know but this is an interesting read nonetheless.

It's cost cutting. They can claim it's because the US market had output limits, and that LEDs are better for short ranges... But we all know it's cost cutting.

The 2000s and 2010s saw innovation and development to win customers. The 2020s are the decade of cost cutting and "f the customer".

Perhaps, and that's a widespread trend we are seeing across the industry but in this case I believe outdated US regulations had a big part to play or at least acted as a catalyst or plausible excuse . Hopefully they will take us forward, and not backwards

I'd prefer going back to glass globes that cost $20.

I have laser lights on my RS etron GT. Those lights rule the road. Whatever. Control what you can control.

I too have the lasers on my G05 with anti dazzle enabled. Love how far the lights penetrate on dark backroads. Can only imagine how much better the euro lasers must have been.

They are awesome. All BMW has to do is charge 6k or whatever they feel necessary. People will pay it.

It's a plausible excuse at best. But I think most people are smart enough to see it is just an excuse to give you less while charging more.
