EXTENDED MERINO for Europe
Hello everyone,
I am in Europe and there is no leather option on the dashboard and doors. Does anyone have the information? Will this option be available? The two dealers I'm in contact with don't have the answer yet. |

Market dictates these decisions, but we might see some of these features return in future updates. |

Honestly, leather is not a good idea anymore on these cars. Car companies are using poor quality adhesives for their leather and it's ending up delaminating after a while. Lots of brands seem to be experiencing this, and I think it probably has to do with Euro government regulations on the adhesives that are permissible. Audi dashboards are commonly being replaced under warranty because of delaminated leather. I've seen it on Merc and BMW also.

^^ Its a constant worry for me with my current X5M with the leather dash and I already have windshield tint and put leather treatment on the dash periodically. If the leather separates from the dash there is no way to fix it unless you are pulling out the whole thing which would introduce all sorts of rattles imo.

Keeping the car out of the sun helps prolong the life, but it's still going to happen. Best option is to have an aftermarket upholstery shop wrap it in new leather and they will use a proper adhesive that lasts longer. |

Also know lots of people seem to be PLASTIC BAD, but I also don't mind the quality plastic they use on the window rockers, etc. It's fine. WOuld it be nicer to touch aluminum? Hell, yes, but it feels like it's high quality, and that's all I care about. As long as they aren't using Dodge Neon Vacuum Mold Plastic (like they did on the base of the center console of the iX... yuck), then I'm fine. |

So are we saying that in March 2025 we will not see full leather (dash, door panels etc) when an individual interior is chosen?

Maybe even less- on the G99 US ordering sheet pdf, the current options (Silverstone, orange, red, black) are listed as extended merino leather and are all LXx codes, whereas the two options listed under Priority 1 upholstery (violet, lagoon) are just listed as "merino leather" and are Zx codes. Both of those options are listed on the pdf as being 'no charge,' as well.

Any car at this price level should offer full leather day one. While it won't keep enthusiasts away it will deter a few. I expect year two to offer this option.

It needs to have full leather, have twice as big a sound system, to have soft-close doors, weigh less, be even faster, and remain at this price point. And to look better. Got it. I'm making a checklist.
