Seeing M5 in person

I noticed today my local dealer has the new G90 in Black/Red parked outside. The car looks different from the pictures, I thought it looked pretty mean and aggressive. It looked low enough and no need to lower it! I like the styling, it looks different from the M60.

The one thing I don’t like is the opening below the front bumper without using the typical plastic mesh/screen. If a stone at high speed goes through, it will probably drill a hole in the radiator! Also, any idea why BMW doesn’t use low profile tires on the M5? The front are 40s while the rear are 35. There was an M2 next to it with almost the same style of wheels in 20” F/B (in Black) with 45 front and 30 rear, the tires and wheels looked more aggressive than the ones on the M5 and it showed the deep concave shape of the wheel were it didn’t show well on the M5!

In general, the car looks good in person and much different from the pictures.

Yep the front space is huge but that’s what gave it a very aggressive look. I agree this car looks bad ass stock.. very mean looking

They are probably using more high profile sidewall tires because of the weight of the vehicle and for better traction. Shifting 5,400lbs from one tire to the next, you want more sidewall for sure.

Looks wise, the only thing I truly hate about the G90 and same goes for the new M2 is no side fender grille anymore. The M5 looks naked without it now.

Somehow I don't miss it. All previous gen M5 from glance was almost exactly the same as base 5 series with M package, so this fender was a distinctive feature.

G90 is much wider and different for the first time, so no fake grills are needed? And the charging flap is in a way

Yeah, I think the tire profiles are for the added weight. Putting 35 series tires on that car would be akin to putting Gorlock the Destroyer in high heels.
