I learned a long time ago the best track car is one that's cheap enough that you're willing to throw the keys in it and walk away from it. Cheap track cars are the best track cars, because that way when you stuff it into a wall, or some kid with a civic smashes into the back of you, you're not stuck with a smashed up car you have to pay to fix out of pocket.

Granted, I'm the one who introduced "track car" to the discussion. The OP didn't mention the need for a weekend track car, and you and I have gone off topic. My point about the Model 3 Performance as a "track car" was Tesla intended the car to be a track car because it does have "track" modes. It being a "track car" means it has a high performance driving level to it already, thus why need a weekend car (in sedan format)? The OP answered that question, he wants a 3-pedal car.

TBH, I've never understood the concept of a "weekend" car. I used to drive 800 miles a week as my office commute, I drove great cars during the week because why waste time driving a crappy car (read as "Camry"). My idea of a "weekend car" would be the Ariel Nomad (if you can get it to be registered street legal).

You're usually the exception when it comes to this, but I completely get the idea of a daily + weekend car combo. I love my M4 GTS as we weekend car (and also drive it to work on weekdays when the weather is nice), but I have 0 interest in driving it every single commute. Low clearance, takes forever to warm up, loud (good thing on most days), stiff, paint is black and it's only a 2 seater.

Quite frankly, I enjoy these aspects after a long day at work in my DD: quiet EV mode, more comfort, tech (use Waze all the time), heated steering wheel, ect...

OP, I was going to recommend the E9x M3, but since you've already had one before, then an M2C would be on my personal list as well. Really enjoyed that car (mine was a 6MT)

I don't even commute and I still have different cars for different purposes. Like I would totally hate the Miata here in FL where most of my driving is city streets and long straight highways. However the Model 3 is perfect for those conditions and not super fun on winding mountain roads where the Miata shines.

I can totally see people not wanting to take their loud uncomfortable manual car on their shitty bumper to bumper traffic commute everyday, but do want to drive it on fun roads on the weekend.

If you read the whole thread, you would have learned that the OP has an E92 M3, so he is familiar with the E9x M3 option that several of us have suggested. It seems like he is looking for an experience he has not had yet.
