Not seeing electric deployment along with ICE?

I’ve hit 600 miles, so started to rev it a bit more (up to 7000). Interestingly, I cannot seem to see that the electric motor and ICE working together - I only see one or the other on the dash. Anyone else seeing the same?

What modes are you in and how much throttle are you applying?

Have tried various modes. I'm starting to think it just doesn't show the electric drivetrain usage when ICE is going. Have tried variety of throttle usage, including flooring it (not launching, though).

I did put it in sport to see the horsepower usage (assuming it's relatively accurate?). And it would go up to the 717 when pinning it, so electric drivetrain must be active, even if it doesn't show it.

Yeah, it should show the bar graph next to the tach going up and down. It may also not fully be using the EV side in the first few gears if traction is limited.

Good news! I pinned it momentarily heading home from lunch, and indeed saw the blue bar (electric) become active. While I couldn't stare at it, what was interesting was that in the first couple gears it seems to on/off in a binary way - likely just supporting during the gear change, but then once I hit ~4th it then would stay steady on until I let back off the throttle.

I also wonder if torque limits are in place for the lower gears to preserve the drivetrain, even at stock power levels. I have a phev jeep wranger and 1st and 2nd gear are torque limited when running the oem ecu calibration.

Watching the m5 vs c63 race, the m5 driver comments that 3rd gear moves out pretty good. The jeep, while not fast, does the same thing. Could be unrelated of course.

Yes the blue bar comes randomly Aka automatically unless you use the boost mode, then it deploys it at your whim. Sometimes I do feel that it relies mainly on ice, and you get turbo lag and sometimes it just kicks it in. I’m starting to wonder if the engine recovery Min or max has anything to do with it. I don’t ever want to feel that f90 like ice only lull when applying 70% throttle. Can we guarantee the electric assist? I’m kinda addicted to it….

Yeah, traction limited...note the EV side provides instant power and all the time...no peak or valley. These cars are traction limited.

The other problem is the lower gears are over to fast as to load and unload the tranny. The limited factor in my opinion is the tranny.

The higher gears have time to use the full power and unload during shifts. As the car revs out you will see the EV ramp down.

My guess

The XM is similar...

I believe the car starts in EV mode. You probably already tried this but switch to hybrid or dynamic mode. Dynamic is ICE only

So essentially there is NO ICE -only mode? Electric is always assisting?
