The Ups and Downs of the new M5, from a BMW Specialist
::
Hello, my name is Will and I work as a BMW "Product Genius" in North America. My job is to know anything and everything about the BMW lineup, so please feel free to ask questions about BMW stuff! I wanted to express my personal opinions about the G90 M5 as my dealership just received its first one. People don't like the looks and it weighs more than a 7 Series, but at least its fast, right? P.S. I'll try and post some pics later as this is my first time posting on this site and frankly I don't know how to post pics from my phone to here. It's Brooklyn Grey on Black and basically has everything besides CCB's. Exterior: Handsome I think the exterior looks muscular, executive, and overall handsome, the true markings of an M5. The front looks absolutely mean especially with its widened fenders and aggressive design. The side profile looks great as well (besides the Hoffmeister Kink being ruined) and honestly I think its increased length helps that. The back however is its weak point. In my opinion it looks awkward and uninspired. Frankly, I believe uninspired is a running theme with the MY24+ 5 Series. Overall though, I really have no major complaints about its exterior, however the F10 will always hold the crown in my opinion. Interior: It's fine Let's start with the seats. The seats look great and are very comfortable, essentially being a more modern looking rendition of the F90 seats. My biggest complaint has to be that they claim to be "Multi-Functional Sport Seats", yet they lose my favorite function from past models being the upper backrest control. Being 6'3", this was huge in my opinion. Not only that, some of the ones that do remain can only be controlled through the iDrive system. As far as interior materials go, they definitely cheapened out. There is more plastic and faux leather than before and the quality of the "Merino Leather" feels more coarse than the F90 generation. Maybe different supplier? That being said, it is put together quite well. No creaks, squeaks, rattles, panel gaps. User interface is overall pretty intuitive, iDrive 8.5 is great and looks super sharp. My issue comes with the fact that the damn thing was stuck onto the dash like TV screen. Not only that, the lack of proper buttons is extremely annoying. A lot of very commonly used functions require you to use the screen which is not safe and just plain annoying. I'm 24, I'm good with tech and I understand how to use it, but it doesn't mean it can't be annoying to use. iDrive 7 forever! Even, then the few buttons in the interior are mostly capacitive touch which suck. At least they are placed properly in the cabin. Overall the interior looks JUST like the i5 M60, with more aggressive seats and M buttons . Driving Experience: TBD (I don't want to get fired for taking the only M5 we have for a joy ride ) Let me know what yall think! |

This sound weird and I am not sure you are legit but anyway here you go.
- Most people like the exterior design. - Most people hate the weight. - Many people complained about the quality of the interior. - People are 50/50 on performance. Quote:

Seems like a legitimate offer to answer questions about the new M5 from a BMW Genius, while also offering his perspective.
