So here's a quirk.

I've got a Sub on an Everest nylon strap. I brought it into my AD for cleaning last week.

A few days later, I get a text from them saying (paraphrased) "We can't clean it (in house) while it has the Everest strap on it, but if you bring in the bracelet, we can clean it."

Um, ok. Odd, but ok.

So, I Brought in my (never-worn/used) bracelet and don't really think much more of it.

Today, I went to pick it up, and the bracelet was installed. I asked them to put the Everest strap back on, and it turned into a helmet fire.

Finally, the manager got involved and they did it for me as a "goodwill" gesture, but told me that as an AD, they can't install non-Rolex straps, so going forward, I'd have to deal with removing and installing the strap myself when I bring it in for service.

Ok, not a problem, I've got tools somewhere in the house, but it really seems like an odd rule for me. It's a bracelet and strap-- not an integral part of the watch.

Any thoughts on the new explorer ii 42 mm? I like the look of it, but it seems like it may look too big. Maybe if you had a 7 Inch plus wrist it would look fine. I have a 6 1/2 inch wrist and i’m concerned it’ll be too big. None of my AD’s have any in stock to try on.

I tried on a polar Explorer ii a couple years ago, it looked too bland for me And I was disappointed because it looked so good in pictures. I can’t remember how it looked on my wrist with respect to size. I wanted to get the “less desired” black one.

The biggest "tool" is your AD... Heck I can switch a bracelet to a strap and vice versa with all my watches in no time. I think your AD is suffering from some insecurity complex. He needs some couch time.

My wrist is around 6.5" as well, maybe a bit smaller, and 42mm is definitely a large watch. I would look at the 36mm Explorer and see what you think.

Got the call from the AD to pick up the Wimbledon DateJust for the wife for our 10 year anniversary.

She followed it up a couple of weeks later by getting me this guy:

Just a reminder that Watches & Wonders 2025 runs April 1-7.

Still hoping for a white-faced 40mm Explorer release, but I just know that's wishful thinking on my part.

True OG GMT - 1978 1675: My first Rolex. Given to me new by my parents as a graduation present in 1979. I wore it for years as my only watch until l got a Sub in the mid 90s. My wife now wears it as her daily.

soldes Thank you. Yes, I hit the wife loto. We've been married 26yrs and she's into cars, motorcycles, and boats as much as I am. Her current DD is a 2018 M2 (Avitar). Performance mods include a BM3 Stage 2 93 Oct tune, catless DP, IC, and Dinan exhaust. It's her third M car and she loves it. Prior to that her last two DD cars were a C7 Z51 Vette and a 2011 Porsche Spyder - both with full performance mods. On top of that, she can drive circles around most men on the track. Which is not surprising since, many years ago, she spent a couple of years hanging out with and being coached how to drive Porsches by Brian Redman. Not bad for a little old school teacher.
