Intake Manifold Hole
I have a 2016 530D xDrive with 179k kms on the clock. It's always been serviced at the same BMW dealership since we bought it in 2017 and it's most recent service was June 24, including rear brake replacement.
In October, the air suspension suddenly dropped when driving, which needed a replacement compressor. In November the rear brake warning sensor came on, needing replacement. So after getting zero problems with the car throughout its history to then have a few things go wrong in quick succession, I took the car to a different garage when we had running issues last week (idling was bad and it was misfiring). The engine light also came on. The garage found a hole in the intake manifold, which he described as 'weird'. Has anyone seen anything similar to this and would this be a common way the intake manifold could fail? I'm no expert, but the hole seems to go straight through, even to the point like it has made an indent on the inside of the manifold. |

From the look of the bloom surrounding the hole, its looks as if created from inside out?
or, looking at the little point on the other side, a high speed drill that melted the plastic into a bloom.... |
