Oil/water pump working in EV mode?
So after a sprited run and all temps are hot, when I change to EV mode, I wonder if the oil pump and water pump will still work?
Since the water pump is electroc, I think it works ( even after shut down) But I’m wondering if oil pump will work in EV mode with hot oil. What do you think? |

I do not know of any engines that use an electric pump to circulate oil. |

Ok, so in the case I mentioned where after spirited driving with hot oil, change the car to EV mode, hot oil does not circulate and stay hot in the coolers...I guess that's ok for the coolers to hold hot oil without circulation?

Yes, if the oil is in the coolers it won’t be hot for very long! There may be some kind of oil scavenge pump to get oil back to the sump, but the mail oil pump is mechanically linked to the crank.

Thanks for your feedback. I guess it would be a good practice NOT to move to EV mode right after spirited driving then, just to be safe and cautious. |
