The biggest takeaway for me with this is how dated the F90 looks. The more I drive the G90 the more I like it. I previously owned an F90 and F10.

Eh, I look at that front pic of the video and it's both telling and depressing how gigantic the the G90 looks compare to the two previous gens. It'd be like putting an F90 next to two previous gen M3s ... looks like it belongs to a different model line.

They're all fast enough in a straight line. I suspect the G90 will suffer a lot pushed to aggressive braking and handling loads. G force pressure will not be its friend, you can only mask so much with coding.

It is also obvious that the delta in performance between the F90 and the G90 is non-existant, and therein lies the quandry.

After 6 M5’s dating back to my first M5 which was an E39, I will not be migrating to the G90, at least not this iteration. I will happily stay in my current 22’ M5C as there is nothing compelling me to make the move.

For those that will undoubtedly question my comments … yes, I can afford a G90 and yes, I have extensively driven it as my brother owns one.

And yes, this is just my opinion and not an indictment on this car. I’m sure many value the PHEV and new styling etc and I respect that.

A G90 with performance that is measurably better than it’s predecessor could tilt my mind in another direction. Unfortunately, this is not that car.
Have you driven the car? Like really driven it especially after being broken in, warmed up tires?

Again brakes way better than a f90… don’t judge this car on how yanni drove it… 🤦‍♂️

I really want to only hear from current g90 owners who moved from f90 to share their experiences… honestly I’m curios, because I did and I can tell you categorically it’s a way better car, it’s just not the kind of change we saw going form f10 to f90 because for us to experience that we would need a major technological advance in engineering which is not there yet.

Agreed. Both are cool cars though, and looking forward to seeing where the tuning world takes the g90.

Yes, I have driven it extensively, pre and post break-in, on warm tires.

Like I said in my post, this is not an indictment on the G90 but a comment about performance versus the F90 and “my” opinion, that at there is not enough compelling “me” to make a move to the G90.

While I don’t love the looks, the interior or the PHEV many may find that compelling enough to make the move.

Every gen of M5’s has improved on the prior generation, it is my opinion that does not hold true for the G90.

Either way, enjoy your car .. who gives a sh-t what I think.

You are really a lucky man! G90s are rare, even more so those with a completed break-in and even more so with an owner who is willing to lend his new car extensively before and after the break-in period for hard spirited drive. Get a lottery ticket you are sure to win ;-)

No it’s not at all quicker. It’s even heeled at worst and faster on un governed races, you know the types when you are rolling along and you see an f90c, you sneak up and gun it and wish you had byebye as your number plate…lol

So you win the race when the other driver isn’t racing? Thats the standard now?

So far we’ve heard “0-60 doesn’t matter any more because EVs”. “The F90 is modded.” A few months ago we heard “it’s gonna trap 140s” (lol). “It’s faster in a roll” (it isn’t). And now we’ve resorted to “you’ll win races if you sneak up on people and they aren’t racing”. This is an M5 forum right?

Well my quote is based on my observation here and everywhere.
F90C completed 1/4 mile in 11.1 seconds while G90 completed in 11.3 seconds so F90 is quicker right?

Are you basing your conclusion on just one car (the green G90 used by Mat Watson)? What other source? Because Mat Watson got different times ranging from 11.1 to 12.5 with an F90 which shows that depending on the circumstances and the car it can vary by more than 0.2 sec. He also demonstrated that one out of two times the launch control of the F90 does not work and bugs...

F90 was a comp and lost 2 of the three drag race without the race chip... not by much either way. I'd say the G90 is faster than the F90 base, and on par from a dig with the F90 comp. What doesn't make sense and probably wasn't done properly was the rolling race, the G90 has a better pickup and faster 100 to 200 kph time.
