Open pore wood - texture issue
I ordered the open pore wood trim and I like the look, but I realized I’m not a huge fan of the texture (how it feels). This is only really an issue around the center console controls.
Is there any treatment I can apply to create a smoother finish so it feels better? I know it has already been treated during production. Thanks. |

Perhaps a wipe with tung oil or linseed oil could help. I don't recommend doing this without you doing some research. Good luck!

Stop touching your wood in public?
Sorry, couldn't resist. What about the feel is it? Big bumps, or a rough surface? You could put a urethane over it, but then it wouldn't be open pore anymore and would be closer to plastic coated wood with the glossy costing. |

I have the same trim and love everything about it. I don't think you could change the texture on how it feels other sanding it down and refinishing it, which I wouldn't be brave enough to do. I think the texture is part of it's charm.

Fair point, thanks for the response. I think maybe I just need to give it some time and get used to it a little. I do really like the look.
