Comp broke...

So my brother's comp finally gave out last night, after 5 years of functioning!

He had an old asus mobo, P4-800E deluxe or something...anyhow, after opening the case up, taking the mobo apart, reconnecting everything, I had determined it was the sticks of ram. I put other sticks in, and it worked! So I then took the older stick of ram and put it in, that worked too!

WTF was going on!?

So I disconnect everything, and tried again. Now it won't even show me any signs of life on the monitor!

The Vid card is fine, works with my older comp...just the mobo is acting weird. I tried this about 10x and it was on and off, I called it dead. Looks like my brother will be shopping for a new computer....

woohoo! I7s, here we come!

I was grounded. THe monitor showed signs of life, but it was erratic and not consistent, so my conclusion was the faulty 5 year old mobo...

yeah, the DIMMs are fine =/ tested em in the other comp. Operating on the transfer right now, if it will allow me, i'm going to xfer the cpu...to the other mobo, luckily it seems like it is hte same socket
