What made you buy or want a BMW?
True story.......
Ever since riding in my aunt's gold bmw over the golden gate bridge, in the late 80's, listening to michael jackson's "human Nature"; ive always wanted one....... just had to get that out. And they said i needed a therapist |

I remember seeing my first e30, back in 1984, when the e21 320i was replaced in the States. I knew I had to have one of those one day. I saved up some cash and bought a leftover 86 325es in late 1986 with 30miles on the odometer. I still wish I never traded it in for the 1992 325i, when the e36's came out.

BMWs entered my consciousness with the 2002 and left it with the 528e ; -) They're back with the 135i. The N54 engine appeals to the technogeek in me. One of those 'feed the geek' deals I guess. ; -)

I lived in DC in the late-80's.
I was at a party and got a lift back to my place from a German woman who owned a little 3-series. Anyway her skirt kept hiking up over her knees as she shifted and instead of falling for her, I dug the car. |

M1 in either Road & Track or Motor Trend, saw photos and fell BMWs. A few decades later, bought my 2000 Z3 new and then in 2004, I bought our CPO 330i. Great cars and can't wait for the 135i to add to my list of BMW's owned.

When I was 12 yrs old I realized that there was indeed life beyond Mercedes Benz(my favorite car of all time growing up, can hardly relate to the feeling now). Then I became old enough to drive one, but didn't for qutie some time. The first Bimmer I ever drove was a then brand new '06 E90 330i, it was insanely good to drive; steering razor sharp, the car went pretty much went anywhere I pointed with a dexterity I still have yet to come across in any other car I've driven, in combination with that zesty inline 6 motor and smooth but quick and ultra sporty gearbox!?!?!?!? - speechless. At times, I wonder what it's worth to spend so much money on a car, but then I realize that BMW's offer a value that's non existent elsewhere in the market. Though there are many cars that come close, but not car companies.

I fell in love with BMW's the first time I had the opportunity to drive one.
All I can remeber is that my first impression of driving a BMW was "DAMN THIS CAR CAN HANDLE" "It was like the freakin car was on rails. The first BMW I drove was a 3 series. Soon after that I purchased a 3.0 Z3 Coupe and then a 325Ci. -Chris

Z3 owner here as well.. Is your last name Fong by chance? I am 1point9 on other forums. The first BMW I drove was an early Z3 when only the 4cyl versions were available.. The next year I went out and purchased my 1997. I have gone through about 7 cars since then and this little 1.9 Z3 is the only one that has stayed in the stable as others came and went. There is just some sort of driving magic in a BMW and for that reason I am selling my 400+ hp Mitsubishi Evolution IX to come back to BMW.. Its one of those things you just can not accurately put into words.. Something tells me this 1 series will be my last car purchase for quite a while.:roundel: |

I'd always admired 'em as a kid. Dunno why really, my dad's a Chevy guy. First ride in one was my neighbor's brand new 1990 325i at age 13. I waited patiently for 16 years, purchasing several Bimmers of my own along the way. He finally sold it to me a year ago this month after buying a Cayman S. Guess I'll never be able to part with this one either, wish I wasn't so sentimental.

When I got my drivers license my brother had a E36 316i compact and I got to drive it quite often. I don't know what was THE thing that made me fall for BMW's but I guess it had something to do with the way it handled on snow with that very very light rear. It was really hard to get it moving (to the right direction ) when you had to stop for lights in an uphill.

What made me want to buy or want a BMW? Simple....
When I first saw the short films "The Hire" Episode "The Chosen One" where they use the M5. That film made me want a BMW. But what made me really want it... the actual drive in a 540i with sports package. WOW!!! That was an experience of a lifetime for me.

Why BMW? well lets see, when i owned american cars, once I got them to 70,000 seemed like every week no matter how well I mantained them something new and hard to work on broke, annoying quirks, ext... Talked to many family members (all who have at least 2 bmws each) that have been through honda, chevy, ford, toyota, ext. Whats the best car they ever owned? These BMWs. So I bought one myself, now at 130,000 miles. Quiet, not a single problem, people complement on it, its still worth alot of money, it drives like a car SHOULD drive, its AMAZING!! Im keepin this one and gettin my next one here shortly ;-)

I never cared for American. I'm not fond at all of the rounded Japanese styling. Nobody can do exotic like the Italians, but I am not very exotic. I have always loved German. Porsche, Audi, VW, Benz.
However, BMW stands above them all. There is just something about BMW styling. Angled, defined, distinctive. They have always been the best looking cars to me. I don't mind if things get modern, I just hope Bangle does not completely loose the distinctiveness. So far I am still on board. I have never driven a BMW. I am not getting any younger, and it is time to have some fun. If the 135 happens to get priced too high, then I have made up my mind I will get an E46. Maybe an older M3. But I REALLY want the 135i. |

When I got my drivers liscense back in 1988. I used to stare at my neighbors 1987 325es. The car was beautiful and one day he let me drive it ALL DAY!!!!!!...Granted I was 16 and just learned how to drive a stick. The minute I started the car and drove away it knew that BMW's were the car for me. The tight steering, the power. 325es motors were high torque motors back in the day. The stick was very notchy and went into gear easily. I just fell in love with the car the instant I drove it. I knew that one day I would get one when I had the money.
When I turned 23 out of college I bought my 1st bmw.......an E21 1982 320is and I loved it. Then a year later I bought an E36 92 325i, and now I bought an 01 330ci. My next will be either 135i or an E30 ///M3 with an S52 motor swap.

Ever since I laid my eyes on a dakar yellow E36 M3, I always wanted one for myself, and then my bro-in-law bought a Alpine white E46 M3 and I rode in it, I was like I've always loved BMWs, especially the M3. Was planning on getting a used E46 M3 later down the road but that was before the 335i and 135i arrived. Can't beat 300hp with bi-turbo and warranty:thumbup:

Ever since my mom use to pick me up from middle school in her 94 5series 10 years ago. I loved the way it hummed. I didnt actually drive my first BMW until 2004. Since then I was hooked. I dont get how a 192hp 3600lb 325ci could get my blood going. I just love it. Thats why I have full faith in a 128i and 135i.

I always loved BMW's. But after driving one I did know it: I had to own one.
First drive in a BMW was the E34 M5 (3.8L). |

This BMW will be a first and my first EURO as well. I have always wanted one, I was going to splurge on a 1999 M3 back when it was new, but I bought an 99 Acura CL 2.3 instead because I needed to pay for school and the M3 would have taken all the funds away. My second chance was 2 years ago when a used 2001 BMW M Coupe came accros my path the original owner was selling it for $30K with 27k miles on it, the car was clean but unfortunatly someone outbided ME for the car I guess it ended up selling for more than $32K and that was to much to pay for a used car, so I got my Acura TL, its nice and all and I put about $12K fixin it up, but its not a BIMMER. I hope 3rd time will be the charm with this 135i, its been 9 years waiting...............

My counselor years ago had a black E46 M3 that was absolutely gorgeous. It was a 2001 or 2002, new back then. after riding in that car I was convinced I wanted a BMW.
