like some have mentioned- just be yourself. Then again- sometimes you can be yourself and still need some help. So here are some lines I remember/got/came up with (some are from movies and stuff LOL)
something like: "When I first met you I thought u were so different from me. You're my other half, you complete me" imma give u some more later, in class |

"Fourscore and seven years ago our fathers brought upon...."
Honestly, don't try to memorize a speech. Just outline what you want to talk about, throw in a few funny anecdotes, get the invitees to laugh and interact with you, and it will be less nerve-racking. |

I give speeches often and I've learned to:
1. Know the audience. 2. Scripted speeches are received poorly. 3. Be yourself 4. Throw a lot of nuggets 5. Not be a drag 6. Create an outline to follow 7. Rehearse the first few lines I also saw this site about Groom's Speeches. Good luck! [URL="http://www.finespeeches.com/groom-speech.html"] You must thank people in the right order, but not allow the speech to become just a list of “Thank you’s”. You have to achieve a lot with a few words. It would be easy to write a speech that was OK - but much too long. If people start looking at their watches, you will not make the good impression you hoped for.

Hey congrats!,
I'm also in the middle of writing my grooms speech, getting married on Sept. 9th. I'll make sure to thank her for letting me get my Bimmer right before the wedding! By the way I'm marring a Macedonian girl! |

My nugget for the day is... Sophisticated - to act composed when it is not expected. Take care, Niko

Have a great day & just enjoy yourself. The wife & I got married in Italy & I didn't write a speech- the words just flowed, after a few glasses of Champagne! I used a few 'diversionary one liners' to throw the guests of the track of my ramblings- I think I said something like '...oh yes...better not forget...not only it is our Wedding day, but it's xxxxx's birthday as well- she's got a few years behind her now, so I'm sure she's got a lot to say on this great day....over to you missy...'! I don't think it really matters what you say- just be yourself & say what you feel. All the very best Paul. Viv |
