M3 under water-still ran
I forgot I had this pic. I just returned the car last week, when I picked up my 135. 2 years ago, my house flooded, and my m3 was in the garage. After all the water was gone, I started it up, and water shot about 6+ft out of the exhaust pipes, and she ran fine since, never in for service. Only water inside was a damp carpet in rear passenger seat. In the pic the water has already receeded, it was up to just below the door handles.

Still ran like a top, never an issue, and it was low miles, very nice car, even after the water

Well, if the water only got to the door sills, it just ran into the exhaust and muffler and did not get in the engine at all. Plus since the car has to be designed to drive in the rain, anything on the bottom that could get wet was designed to, so it did not hurt anything.
You are probably lucky that the muffler did not get a hole blown in it. |

All I can say is wow. Just like an electrical component, an engine stuck in water like that should never be started. Its best to wait till the water recedes and see how FUBAR, if it all, it really is.
