Your zealotry is showing. You have no personal knowledge of what albums I have or have not listened to or downloaded, and your attempt to speculate regarding the matter is weak. I'm from Chicago, and as such I could hardly avoid his music if I tried, at least in any public venue. As far as Chicago artists go, I'd rather listen to old school Common.

You've come into a thread made by someone who's opinion is contrary to your own and started extolling the virtues of Kanye. It's not me that needs to let it go, but you. Not everyone likes Kanye as much as you do, and eventually you will have to accept that. Stop proselytizing.

I've quite literally been listening to hip-hop since before you were born, and I can tell you there were artists that were arguably more talented than Kanye even in 1988. Rakim is one, KRS would also fit the bill IMO. If I don't limit myself to artists before 1989, the list would grow considerably; Atmosphere, The Roots, Gang Starr, Nas, A Tribe Called Quest, Souls of Mischief, Masta Ace, Pharcyde, Wu Tang, GZA, etc., etc., all of which I'd probably rather listen to than Kanye. Of course I will not deny that every album or song put out by the artists I mentioned above hasn't been perfect, far from it, but that leads me to my next point.

The fact that people will "eat up" "anything" he puts out merely serves to reflect the extent to which rap has been commercialized, and to which fanboyism has largely supplanted selectivity.

I'm talking about TODAY! maybe there was better rappers before I was born. IYO I don't like that old school rap too much. I'm talking more about the fact that someone would go post a whle thread saying Kanye sucks? thats pretty lame. I HATE 50 cent, but I'm not gonna post up a thread saying he's a fake gangster.
