To quote the article people buy Lexus for quality and craftsmanship, not speed. It's the car that Camry owners trade up to.
Lexuses (or is it Lexi? ) have never been known as real sporting cars. Quiet, comfy, and very well built are hallmarks of the brand, but soul is not. As such, I can very easily see why people buy the LS. What I can't see is why people buy the IS...

I saw one in traffic the other day and from the front and side they are quite impressive. Not so much from the rear.
I would just like to try one once, winding 380hp through an 8 speed box.

Toyota, like Nissan has been trying to knock of BMW for a number of years now. may be getting close, but seriously, brakes are a big part of a car (as brakes inspire confidence), and they're nothing you can skimp on if you're trying to take on BMW and Merc. Lexus skimped on the LS460 big time. and it shows. you know how many times i've been saved by an inch after someone in front of me brakes hard and i have to slam on them as well? i'd take a 7 series or S500 over it any day of the week. at least i won't have to worry about how much distance i have to keep away from teh car in front of me cuz my brakes suck so hard. trust me. i'm still laughing. hard. and as far as that shot at my car? you're wrong. my car stops in 201 feet. 16 feet shorter than the Lex. not to mention my car is 21 years older than the lex. you would have thought a brand new Lexus could outperform my 21 year old beamer in every aspect. nope Last edited by herbz; 12-03-2006 at 11:36 PM.. |
