Been there done that back when I was in college. Sucked a LOT for the first 2-3 days, not so much 4-7 days, hardly at all after 7-10 days.
But be careful when you are eating for at least the next 30. I got a chip inevertantly wedged in mine while eating some doritos about 3 weeks after my surgery. That m'f-er went right down into the empty tooth socket on the bottom of my jaw with full bite pressure. Makes a grown man cry. |

did you get multiple wisdom teeth pulled? i had 2 pulled a year or so ago, only 1 at a time though. the pull wasn't that bad and i didn't get any medicine to take home. don't remember it hurting that much afterwards. my friend who got 4 pulled at the same time said it sucked.

At least you have good drugs!
I had Vicodin and all it made me was sick to my stomach! I recall just sitting there for hours with my head hung low and blood draining out of my mouth into a bowl. Fricken sucked!

I recently had my bottom ones removed - wasn't bad at all. I took some basic Ibruprofen and that was really all I needed. Didn't bother to dive into the 30 vicodins I had.
My buddy on the other hand had all 4 removed and 2 ended up having a dry socket. He went through his bottle of vicodin and mine :P Quote:

My experience with wisdom teeth removal involved half my face swollen and infected a week later. The doctor had to slit the gum open, rinsed the wound with saline solution, without any anesthesia (because it's hard to anesthetize infected and swollen tissues). It was painful when he did that, but at the same time strangely satisfying... |

i had all four pulled at one time, percocet kept me without pain long enough for everything to be fine and then motrin ib helped until it was fully healed. never felt any pain.
i just sat on my bed watching TV for like five days straight, only getting up every couple of hours to change the gauze and rinse with a special rinse the doc gave me. after the first 24 hrs no more gauze but kept rinsing. i ate tons of yogurts and shakes and soups. i couldn't open my mouth but the doctor simply told me to exercise my jaw against my fist, and after a couple of weeks I was back to normal.

Been there man. Mine was pretty easy though. I had all four (impacted) teeth pulled, and found out I was allergic to pretty much every pain killer they gave me (including percocet). The same day I just ended up taking a couple Tylenol and I was good to go in two or three days. Changing the gauze kinda grossed me out though!

If wisdom teeth are pulled by a GOOD surgen, you should have little to no pain afterward.
All my friends and families use this doctor and all our little pain went away in 3 hours. |

i went in originally to just get 1 of my wisdom tooth's pulled but after seeing the x-rays i was recommended to get all 4 pulled at the same time instead of different times. i didn't even need my percocets, i only took half of one the day i got them pulled and never had to take anymore. it SUCKED that i could only eat soft foods for the first week |
