Basically you can either transfer the files from your old computer's hard drive to your new one via external hard drive or cd or whatever, or you can use a program to copy files from the iPod to your computer. I used a program called TouchCopy. It was like 20 bucks but it is very quick and easy and can also let you import your friends' music.

Apple won't let you copy music straight from the iPod to the computer as this would make file sharing too easy and nobody would be buying anything from iTunes. You have to either transfer the files straight or use a third party program.

This program right here - CopyTrans - http://www.copytrans.net/download.php

Love that program, so much better than that piece of shit itunes. Pretty sure it can do what you want. I think I've only used it for putting music onto my iphone so far.

Try MediaMonkey. The free version will work for what you need and has full iPhone/iPod support. I use it to drag/drop music to my iPhone since iTunes sucks a big one. You should be able to drag/drop songs right from your device to your PC, and vice versa.
