To me...if you are going to make an M2 racing.. then they should be making an extra 1000 of everything and make a CSL just like they did back when they made the E30 M3 sport evo ..

I deduced this many moons ago once I saw the timing of when the M2 ends , and knowing how BMW sells M2 when they cannot sell M4 ..

The EOP for the M2 is 6/21 and there simply is time ( despite the protestations of others ) for an additional model and why not call it CSL.

As I said when I placed a photo of it on my computer in 2016... just take the moto GP M2 race car and put a price tag on it !

It shouldn't have taken BMW years to figure this out .. but then again ..perhaps indeed, these things are planned years out , and BMW product planning hasn't change much since the 1980s .. bring the special editions at the VERY end.
They aren't going to revive the legendary CSL designation on an old model nor their entry level M model.
Sure they will. Or i should say.. if they have balls they will.

M8 CSL - as an flagship track model
M4 CSL. - as an M4 sendoff
M2 CSL - one year delay - see above

Next year in 2020.

Pssst... the E46 M3 was the entry level M model in its day, and from it the legendary M3 CSL was created.

I'm just going to stick with wanting an M2CS, with a manual.

Honestly I'm getting fed up with the run around and the rumours. I wanted the most hardcore version of the M2. However I think that the F87 is already the best chassis BMW makes currently as a "driver's car" the bigger models are great GT cars, but unless you go to the GTS/CSL, they start to fall flat.

Plus, it's hard to justify more than one of the same model, even if it's different like CS to CSL

When will we have a confirmed debut date? I'm hoping to get confirmation on whether it is happening in September or not.

Car Magazine still says Frankfurt debut in September. I do believe that given we have seen so many spy photos this summer.

I doubt BMW would unveil the new G80 M3 while the F82/3 M4 is still in production.

Exactly. This will never happen based on my experience of owning M3/M4 dating back to the E36. I expect the unveiling sometime next year with release sometime in the summer or fall of next year as a 2021 model (G80/82 together).

I think the M2 CS is being revealed in November at LA auto show. Hopefully it will be made clear if a M2 CSL is coming out or not.

I saw that M4 CS ends production in February 2020, so it makes sense that M2 CS goes in production one month later in March 2020.

If this is true and F83 production won't end until August 2020 according to ynguldyn's first post in this thread, it won't be unveiled until September 2020 at the earliest.

I call bullshit on manual not being offered in AWD; the E53 and E83 both had manual variants as well as the E70.

CS is the one we've known about for a long time, and it's coming soon. The timeframe mentioned a few posts higher seems plausible. The name of the new special version I don't know yet.

The E70 wasn’t available in a manual, and the other two you referenced went out of production 9 and 13 years ago. All of those were also SUV’s, which there’s about a 0% chance of being offered as a stick today. If you’re going to use examples for AWD sticks from BMW, the 3-Series offered AWD and a stick as recently as the 340i xDrive sedan that just ended production last year. That’s a much more applicable and recent example.

Really unlikely. As mentioned before, the F83 EOP is August 2020, so the G80/82 will most likely be revealed in September of 2020. Not much sense in revealing a new model when the F8x is still being produced.
