I think a lot of people share your sentiment. I've heard two reasons why he was ultimately resigned. One, Hukenberg was asking too much for salary. And two, he was the one that suggested that HAAS revert back to their Australia spec car. Apparently switching back to the Australia spec package helped HAAS in trying to understand whats wrong with their car this year.

I like Grosjean...but he is quite inconsistent. he seems to struggle to keep the car at near 100% performance, often over driving or taking too many risks and crashing or being too conservative to avoid crashing.

Odd that Leclerc is taking stick. He is such a naturally talented quick driver, he put his hand up to take the blame for running into MV and maybe best of all....he appears not to be a whining self aggrandising entitled twat (coughverstappencough).

The system is not illegal, the stewards "deemed" the way it operates to be a "driver aid". Seems very subjective to me if it didn't break any technical regulations..

I'm reading what some of you are saying about Vettel's start and it looks like some are not informed about jump start transponders. They are not mounted on cars. They are embedded in the tarmac just before the white box about the same level of the yellow line. It estimates where the car is parked and if the car left the white box before the lights go out or if the car was rolling. Vettel's car didn't set off any of the triggers mentioned.https://photos.app.goo.gl/3U4BprDcF5cCCggq5

Harsh, but the result of cheating i guess. Brake Bias was changing on it's own, which is considered driver aid that isn't allowed

I might be arguing semantics here, but this isn't the same as having ABS or TCS. ABS/TCS is explicitly banned in the regulations whereas this system isn't. The issue is with how their brake bias system is implemented, not that it exists at all.

I agree with you, seems a bit odd that they were still excluded from the results despite not breaking any technical regulations. I recently read that the stewards concluded that Renault “used innovative solutions to exploit certain ambiguities” but still did not breach the technical regulations. This seems more of a grey area to me and should have been disallowed for further use considering no rules were technically broken.

I'll be watching all Sky coverage of the upcoming Mexican GP though to see if they expand on the topic. I've noticed the commentators there tend to give a bit more information and reasoning on these topics than what you tend to see online.

Same. It seems like that different stewards at different races just do whatever they feel like. I think F1 needs one team of stewards to keep things consistent and fair. That same system could be legal at another track in the eyes of a different set of stewards...

I think a lot of fans agree with your sentiment there that there should be one set of stewards that travels with the series to every race. I'm sure there are some downsides to this (cant think of any at the moment) but it would go a long way in helping keep consistency in their rulings.

I did a little more reading on the topic of the Renault penalty and it seems that while they did not break any technical regulations, they did breach a sporting regulation.

Quote:
But in this latest case, while Racing Point alleged Renault’s car broke the technical regulations, the stewards ruled they hadn’t, but had actually infringed the sporting regulations. Specifically, article 27.1, a blunt nine-word clause which states: “The driver must drive the car alone and unaided.”
So it seems that they did break a regulation. The question that remains, in my opinion, is whether the penalty levied against Renault is consistent with other penalties issues in the past for breach of sporting regulations.

EDIT: Here's my source for my argument, worth a read: https://www.racefans.net/2019/10/24/...qualification/
