you guys know of any fixes for that, or should I just go and swap it out at my local sam's...

bastards won't even give me a new one, telling me to send it to manufacturer....I even bought the 3 year plan!

mine broke on my about a month ago, but i left it off and it worked itself out lol

Well seems like you want it tonight, other wise I would send it make to M$. Anyway I would do the same thing. Make sure you change the serial number on the back of the Xbox. If the customer service person feels like doing thier job, product over a certain amount needs to be checked to see if it's there regardless of if it looks open or not.

If you want to go the route keep this hush hush, though people probably know I don't want manufactures to start finding away around this. Use a hair driver on the serial number and sticker on the box, hold it there for about 1 min about 1 inch away and use a tweezer to peel off the sticker SLOWLY and keep the heat on it, you dont have to use a tweezer but then you will burn your fingers.

I didn't want to screw over any retail store just yet, so I'm applying some artic 5 and doing the penny fix...we'll see how that works

Nah I would say another day as people throughout the day will be getting it. Anyway successful thread is successful.

I preordered but my Gamestop isn't doing a midnight release. Highly frustrating but probably for my own good considering I work tomorrow morning.

Ok update, I got rid of the 3 rings down to 2 LOL (overheating) I just reseated the heatsinks and applied thermal paste) we'll see in about 10mins how it holds up!
