Yea I got the Seiko John. Should be here in a few days. So how do I start the watch if it dies? And I was looking into watch winders, but I can't afford a winder that costs nearly as much as my watch, which is still on the cheap side for winders i think. All the sub $35 winders seem to have potential motor burnout problems, even the ones with timers. So if I was to put a dead watch on a winder, it should start ticking again then right? I'm not buying a winder so i need to figure out what to do to restart it. Will it be in the manual?

I have that same Invicta and really like it. The second hand now comes with the Invicta logo on the back which is a nice detail. The watch itself is nice and solid, feels well made. I really like the seiko's style too. Have not seen it in person though. I'm considering getting one. Let us know how you like it if you get it.
Well I got the seiko. It looks really good and high quality. This is my first automatic so I find the way the second hand ticks and the weight in the back cool. Now it's too big for me but i ordered a link remover so I'll tell you how it feels or if it pulls hair next week.

My Lord! I can only hope that if one day I'm rolling in a Rolex Daytona, I'm not still driving a 3-series!

Some movement of the watch will cause the self-winding rotor to spin, and wind the mainspring enought to start the watch running again. Keeping it on a winder will help, and winder movement will accomplish the same goal.

Watch winders can indeed be pricey. Here's my two Orbitas - here's the one in my bedroom:

And the one in my office:

Spoken like a Seminole (UF grad here).

A 3-series is a DARN fine daily driver...more practical than an M in Ohio winters, and a better fit for me (age wise) than a 5 or 7...

Don't mistake good replicas for the $30 Canal St. fake that you can buy in NYC.

Not the same thing.

Uhhhmmm...in many cases they are.

Besides, a fake is a fake, is a fake. It's illegal. And in many cases you're going to support the same folks behind other illicit activities in the world like drugs, prostitution, and yes, terrorism.

yea, but who cares if its a "better" fake

its still a fake and $500 didn't go into making that fake watch...probably $20 to $50 MAX went into it.
