All kinds of good stuff tonight. Starters were shrimp and mahi mahi ceviche, and a Ebi roll (shrimp tempura, avocado and ponzu sauce). Dinner was seared tuna and hers was almond crusted salmon. For desert we had banana tempura and coconut ice cream!

Lucilles would be last on my list from those three. Carne asada plate sounds bomb tho.

Honestly, don't know Lucille's, but love carne asada. Pretty much love all Mexican food.

Not a big fan of Lucille’s bbq. It’s just meat doused in sauce, imo. Nothing against anyone who enjoys it. There are just many other places that I prefer. Slab or Baby Blues come to mind first. I’ve also been spoiled because I spent some time in Texas eating a ton of bbq.

Interestingly enough, I used to frequent Texas when I dated a girl who lived there. I wasn't impressed with any BBQ in Austin nor Houston. I expected better

Different strokes for different folks.

What spots did you hit up in Texas? I definitely had bad bbq there; Hard Eight was terrible. Terry Blacks was the best I've ever had.

Couple pictures of my last trip in February. First is at Terry Black's, second and third pictures are of my buddy's bbq.

That BBQ looks better than ANYTHING I ever ate in Texas. Lol! I went to three spots in Austin and one in Houston. The best I had in Austin was from some spot that was built into a gas station.

Had to do a double take. Thought you had a fatty rolled up in that second picture.

Sounds like you need to make it back to Texas to have their "good" stuff. Franklin's usually gets all the buzz, but I'm not willing to stand in line for 5 hours just waiting for BBQ.

Terry Black's is awful. And I've tried it. Twice. It's unfortunate, but a lot of BBQ spots here are now "made for tourists". Locals, who experienced BBQ before BBQ blew up here, can't help but feel disappointed when visiting spots like the "famous" ones in Lockhart.

Your buddy's BBQ looks a lot tastier.

That's the one that's on 4th St. or 3rd St. in downtown right?! I wasn't willing to stand in that line either.
