Sedan_Clan, my first movie on Firestick. Quality looks good. I have Amazon Prime but didn't have it on my TV. Now I do.

When I finish I will let you guys know what I think of this movie.

Speaking of William Hurt, love this film for its dialogue, politics, costumes. Just a great film for period pieces.

Watched No Time to Die on a flight yesterday, didn't really have high hopes for it. Except Casino Royale, I've found the Daniel Craig versions to include too many, too extended car and/or foot chase scenes. This one had depth and humanized Bond and exceeded my expectations. Plus Ana de Armas and Lea Seydoux are so nice to look at. I think this is my favorite Bond film.

For those of us old enough to remember the Lehman Brothers shenanigans that lit the fuse for the stock market crash of 2008 - and the revelations of fraudulent bundled mortgage backed security derivatives, this movie is the true back story of the events leading up to the crash (as chronicled by the one man who investigated what was happening) just before it all blew up. That singular event came to be known as The Great Recession. We are almost there again, but for slightly different reasons this time.

This one was really good, another good one is Margin Call, about the 2008 financial crisis and the overleveraging of mortgage backed securities. I loved the exchange about the CV of one of the bankers. Part of it is below.

Jared Cohen : What is a 'specialty in propulsion,' exactly?
Peter Sullivan : My thesis was a study in the ways that friction ratios affect steering outcomes in aeronautical use under reduced gravity loads.
Jared Cohen : So, you're a rocket scientist.

We are so on the same wavelength. I posted Margin Call earlier on in this thread and agree it's a good one. Jeremy Irons played Jared Cohen if I recall correctly.

LOL, I just read the last few posts, so we definitely are. Simon Baker played Jared Cohen, Irons played John Tuld.

Ah, I sit corrected. Here's the Big Meeting scene in Margin Call where Jeremy Irons rules the room. I've actually been in meetings with people like his character. Maybe we all have who have worked in Corporate America for any length of time.. Those were the days..

Terrific scene. Everyone dreads those meetings, you could've had meetings with the management, then with the directors, then with the VPs and gotten everything approved, then the big guy comes in and destroys your business case in 5 minutes, sometimes for good reasons and sometimes nonsensically. Either way, everyone dreads that meeting, it's like getting to the final boss after fighting through 100 of his henchmen, like Beatrix Kiddo killing all of the Crazy 88s, then Gogo, only to have to face Oren Ishii and ultimately Bill.

Agreed. Everybody hates those meetings. After a while I used to start with my last slide and check their pulse to know where to go next. Kill Bill.. Now there's another movie.. Everybody was Kung Foo fightin' those chicks were fast as lightnin'

Too many films have the extended fights. That's why liked the Rob Roy film. I'll say it: I liked Rob Roy better than Braveheart.

Watched “Everything Everywhere All The Time.” It was an interesting movie. Had humor, action, good acting, and was also a complete mind fck of a movie. It straddles reality and fantasy.

Watching it in pieces. Started out slow but it's picking up. Not bad, so far.

Will probably finish it later today.

Good movie indeed. It's almost an epic due to the awesome scenery and high level of production quality - as well as all the things you mentioned. In my mind it's right up there and in the same genre with "Last of The Mohicans", and "The Patriot". Given the early nineties release date (I think) "Rob Roy" may have been under appreciated.

Most prominent in my mind (to a lesser extent, the English Marquis' lavish lifestyle) was the exquisite use of vernacular, esp in scenes between the Marquis and the Duke. Just amazing, I dunno if anything else comes close.

Watched Once Upon a Time in Hollywood last night, it was fun, campy and filled with surprises. The cameos of Bruce Dern and Luke Perry were especially nice to see. Both Leo and Brads actions at the end were particularly satisfying.
